How was your weekend?

We finally had some gorgeous weather in NE - i'm hoping the rest of you enjoyed the same!! so....how was it?

Re: How was your weekend?

  • The weather here was beautiful!

Friday - ran a couple of errands and went to dinner.

Saturday - The kids slept till nearly 8am!!!  We went to a HUGE playground with L's co-workers and then went to a kids street fair. The kids got to sit on a trolley, make necklaces, and eat ridiculously priced hot dogs and cupcakes.  They fell asleep in the car and we decided to drive around to look at some neighborhoods we might be interested in.  They woke up and so we toured some model homes.

Sunday - Cleaned like madwomen in the AM and then went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch and to the mall to return some items and let the kids ride the caurosel.  Grayson picked out hot pink Minnie Mouse sunglasses with rhinestones and he looks so cute - and he loves them! :)  Carter fell asleep en route to the grocery store and so I sat in the car with him while L and Gray went shopping.  Grayson had not had a nap all day and by 5pm was a PITA.  L fixed our kitched light and I grilled out (although the gas ran out 1/2 way through cooking. Sigh.)  We were so happy when the kids finally fell asleep. We stayed up and watched the Tonys.

  • on Saturday we got out and enjoyed the sunshine at ct's gay pride fest - lounged around on blankets in the park, listened to music, and checked out some cool vendor booths. It was a great time! We even managed to go out saturday night to an actual club. I'm pretty sure its been over a year since we've been "out", but we surprised ourselves by having a really good time.

sunday we were super productive in the yard - lots of mowing, edging, ect. AND my dad brought over the chain saw and took down two huge bushes in front of our house.  it was quite a project clearing those things but sooooo worth it. it opens up the house so much. our neighboors even came over to compliment the improvement. I cant wait until we can fill it in with some pretty landscaping.  Then we met up with friends for some well-earned ice cream.  We capped off the night with a ceremonial bonfire with some bush-burning ;)

  • We had a great weekend - the weather was gorgeous! On Friday night, C's good friend and her husband arrived, so we sat and chatted with them for a bit before all turning in the for the night.

Saturday morning we had a nice breakfast with them and then they left to attend their college reunion.  While they were there, C and I spend the day strolling around in the city, had lunch and frozen yogurt and managed to find me some new bras, which were desperately needed.   Then we had a nap at home, and went out somewhere new for dinner, which was delicious.  Our guests got back late at night, and we all went to sleep.

Sunday, we had another nice breakfast with our guests - on our back porch!  We had just enough room for the four of us to eat at our little table, and it was a gorgeous morning to be outside!  Then C dropped them off at the train station to head home to Philly.  We went out to an open house and to do a couple of drive-bys of other houses, followed by shopping at the outlets for some much needed summer items.  Once we got back home, I started packing for vacation(!), made us a quick dinner and did some laundry.

We also got called downstairs to our neighbors last night to meet their 5 day old baby girl!!  So we got to hold a beautiful squirmy newborn and get a little baby fix Smile I've already offered to babysit! ha ha!

  • The weather here was perfect as well! :-)

Saturday morning we went to a friend's house to set up a garage sale we were doing.  We then made a quick trip to the REs for the IUI and then back to the garage sale.  It was nice just hanging out with our friends and getting a bit of sun.

Sunday I went back to the garage sale while K watched some tennis with friends.  I was exhausted after another long day in the sun so at night was just vegged around the house.

Not too shabby of a weekend.

  • We went to the water park and it was freezing!  Otherwise it was a good weekend.
  • We had nice weather here, too.

Saturday Sylvia worked on her dissertation while I lounged around the house. In retrospect, I probably should have been cleaning or something, but I was tired and just went with it (naps and all!).

Sunday we went to church and then out to brunch with two of our close friends. I was really looking forward to talking, just the four of us (it's been a while since we've seen them for longer than a brief chat), but when we got to the restaurant they spotted some people they knew and we all ended up sitting at one table. Urgh. After that we went home, and I was totally wiped out so I took a nap (see a theme here? I try to catch up on sleep on the weekends). The rest of the day was pretty low-key.

I am so impressed with all of you who have such busy, productive weekends!

Just wait till you have kid(s) - relaxing weekends become a thing of the past!  One of the things I miss most about pre-kids is deciding on a rainy Sat or Sun to lie in bed all day watching movies, cuddling, and eating junk.

  • We didn't do much on Saturday but on Sunday I got to sleep in which was a treat. I made sure S got a nap to keep things fair. The girls spent two hours with our mentor and we went shopping and had a bite to eat. It was so nice to be able to stroll through a store or eat a meal in silence. It really recharged both of us

It was a nice, if mellow, weekend.

  • Speaking of kids, we went to a day-long lesbian health conference in Georgetown on Saturday. There was a great TTC session that was both inspiring and scary. We also went to a workshop on deciphering your relationship patterns by talking about your exes. It sparked some great conversations about our relationship, so the whole weekend turned into a "couple check-in." Sat night I made a fabulous banana cream pie.

Sunday it was the first real hot day. We had a BBQ with some friends to try out our new secondhand grill. It burned everything but we had fun anyway.

I had a ton of work that I brought home and didn't do any of it, so I'm sure I'll be paying for that all week.

  • Dissertation...need I say more Smile.

All kidding aside, I was happy that Christine rested and slept...she works so hard. And (not so) secretly, it was nice to feel like I wasn't missing out on anything. (Though napping with her is always nice.)

  • The weather in Seattle was cold and iffy after the 80s-90s we had in the past week.  Choosing between Saturday and Sunday for a hike was a tossup, we decided on Sunday.  So Saturday we slept in AHHH (a weekend without our kiddos does wonders for the sleep deprivation!!!) and enjoyed being lazy most of the day.  We went out for sushi that night and decided to catch 'The Hangover' at the drive-in theater (I haven't been to a drive-in since high school!) and had a blast.  Yesterday we started out on a tough hike but got stopped part way by the snow-covered trail.  But we enjoyed the views where we were and are putting it on our list to hit later this summer.  We stopped on our way home and did another shorter hike near some waterfalls that we hit at a great time with all the runoff this year.  Then we scored some thai food and crashed our tired bodies at home.Smile
