Help! License Plate Issue
I just noticed that the front plate on my car is missing! We are leaving for Utah very soon on a road trip. Will I get a ticket for a missing plate?
Re: Help! License Plate Issue
I think they are still required on the front and back....I'm just worried. Where do I go to get a new license plate?? My 2003 Cavalier was not designed to have a front plate. I had the bracket/holder for the front and now both are missing!
I found a form on the TxDOT website but I have to turn in the rear license plate at the same time. Does anyone know if I have to go to the Tax Assessor-Collectors office with this form filled out and they will give me a new one or what?
If you go to the Tax Assessor's Office with the form filled out and with your back plate they should be able to give you new plates right away. I would bring a copy of your insurance, too.
I'm not sure if another location (grocery store, etc) will give you new plates.
License plates are required and for 8 years I haven't had one, and police officers have only used it as a reason to pull me over if they saw me driving at 2am (duh, college kid has to eat during finals).
But yes, you might wanna look into it getting it reported in case someone stole it. My husband says you might want to start by calling your police station (the non-emergency line, not 911) and let them know that its missing cause you don't want someone else to put it on their car and pretend its theirs.
