Indiana Wineries

We are starting to get some free time now that the wedding is over, and are wanting to go to some wineries. Anyone have any recommendations? We don't mind traveling, but wanted to try some in Indiana first. Thanks :)

Re: Indiana Wineries

  • My two favs are in Btown... Olivery Winery is the granddaddy of them all and makes a for a nice place to relax and picnic and just enjoy a pretty day.

The other is Butler Winery.. smaller, a little more hidden but has some great wine!!!

Others in Indiana; Chatuea Thomas, Easley, Brown County, etc..

     A good website is; http://www.indianawineries.com/

  • Thanks for the site. We'll definitely use it. I've heard lots about Oliver, and usually buy their wine at the store, it's definitely on our list. :)

  • If you want to hit a lot at one time, The Story Inn in Story, IN has a Wine Festival every year in April.  It is on 135 off of 46 in between Bloomington and Columbus right by Brown County State Park.  DH and I are big fans of the Southwest Michigan Wine Trail because we used to live in the middle of it.  We are huge fans of Karma Vista and Round Barn.  We also like Tabor Hill and Fenn Valley.  The Chocolate Garden is right by Karma Vista and has been featured on the Food Network and in Elle.  It is worth the trip alone because her truffles are like no other.  SW MI has a huge wine festival on Weko Beach in Bridgman coming up on June 20th.  They get bands on the beach for entertainment.  There is camping in the park where the beach is and it is very nice.  My parents are parking their RV for me early in the week because the RV spots will fill for the weekend by Wednesday night.  I think the tent camping does not fill as quickly if at all.  You can call for more info if you are interested.

ETA:  Round Barn does Beer, Vodka, Cordials, and now Whiskey in addition to their wine.  The beer is only at their main winery in Baroda.  The Vodka is incredible and similar to Ciroq.  It has beaten Grey Goose AND Ketel One in blind tests.  I am sure their Whiskey will be phenomenal too.

  • Awesome! Thank you!

  • If you plan on coming to southern Indiana at all, Winzerwald Winery (in Spencer Co), is pretty good and I also love the winery at French Lick.

I second hitting up Round Barn! Did they just change the beer setup? When we went last year they were brewing their winter wheat in New Buffalo (I think that's the name of the town).

  • Oliver Winery in Bloomington has my favorite Indiana wine, hands down. They are also the oldest and largest winery in the state. Every time we go to Bloomington we stop by.
  • We were married at Mallow Run Winery in Bargersville.  It is small, family owned, and very cute.  Oliver is beautiful as well.
  • Oh this is a great list!  I have been wanting to visit another winery since we went to the San Sebastien Winery in St. Augustine.
  • There is a winery in Richmond, Indiana.  It is fairly new, say within the last year.  It is called J & J Winery.  I believe it is family owned and operated.

    Here is their website.
