K's taking the job
K is taking the job at the university about 2 hours from us :-) She sent them a counter-offer that included mileage and they accepted it. The university is going to pay for her hotel stays and already arranged for her to have the same room at the hotel each week. The job is only two classes, and only for the fall but it will keep us on our awesome insurance, and it will keep her teaching. So she's teach Mon and Tues and work at the state capital Wed-Fri. Now if she could just finish her dissertation...

Sounds like a good solution.
Does she have to finish it before she begins the position?
No. ABD is fine with them. She does need to finish it before she goes for any long-term position though. Alot of schools will hire you on with out the PhD but require you complete it within a certain number of months. We'd like to avoid that extra pressure if possible and have her just finish it up now.
That is awesome that they will include the mileage and hotel. Hopefully it will turn into something long term.
