Dental recommendations :/

I believe I need to get my wisdom teeth pulled. Ick!  Not sure if I need a dentist or an orthodontic surgeon or what.

Any recommendations or sites you have used to find recommendations?

Thanks.

Re: Dental recommendations :/

  • Yikes :( No recommendations, but good luck!
  • No

    I'm so effin horrified.

  • I go to Dr. Richard Harder in Irvine (I forget who recommended him to me, thanks!), but I remember when I got my wisdom teeth pulled I went to an orthodontic surgeon. I would start with a dentist first.

It's not that bad, as long as you get the "twilight" anastesia. You won't remember anything, you'll just be groggy for awhile afterwards. ?

  • My dental group had an oral surgeon on staff who came in twice a month for surgeries, so I went with their rec.

    this.

are they already out?  if so, it shouldn't be too bad - I think dentists run across problems when they are impacted and whatnot.  although I'm obviously not a dentist so take it with a grain of salt.

  • You should see an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.  I think general dentists can do it, but you should really see a specialist who does only things like this.  General dentists seem to think they can do everything, even though they don't have as much training.  Legally they can, but I'd rather see someone that has more experience.

I had mine out about 2 years ago and it really wasn't a bad experience.  They will give a ton of post op instructions and if you follow them exactly, you shouldn't have any issues!  Good luck!

  • M just recently got his done by this guy. He had a good experience and is continuing to get work done here.

I go to Dr. Harder too! He's great and I'm sure he could refer you to someone good.

  • I <3 my dentist!

He's in CM...Dr. Spitzer. He gives you the good drugs and you don't feel a thing. Yes

  • Ugh. ?I had a horrid experience with my wisdom teeth last year. ?Did your dentist already tell you that you need them pulled? ?If so, did he/she give you a recommendation on where to go? ?If not, I'd go to your dentist first.

I wish I had gone where my dentist recommended, but the oral surgeon wasn't on my health insurance's list. ?I didn't really like the place I randomly chose in Mission Viejo.?

  • No, I don't have a regular dentist. I last visited about a year ago but I couldn't stand the staff so I do not intend to go back. I also don't have dental insurance so that part is not really an issue.

I am fairly sure I need them pulled though because they have broken the surface, are causing me significant pain and swelling, and are starting to crowd my teeth. It's just the bottom ones so far.

    Thanks girls
