Recommend your pediatrician

I am looking for a pediatrician for my first baby.  I'm wanting someone in the Clayton, Brentwood, Webster, and/or close areas (I live in Maplewood).  Preferably someone through Children's Hospital since I will be giving birth at MoBap and would like them to see the baby after birth.  Thanks!!

Re: Recommend your pediatrician

  • My recommendation doesn't fit your request but I really like my pediatrician.  She is at Gravois and 270.  She is with St. John's Mercy so her privileges are at St. John's - which is just up the road from MOBap and if heaven forbid you needed a NICU that would be at St. John's.  Anyway, her name is Mia Ganninger and the number is 314-849-3885.  All the doctors in that practice are great!
  • We see Dr. Jennifer Arter with Blue Fish Pediatrics, which is located in Kirkwood/Des Peres on Manchester Rd. in the building where Barnes & Noble used to be.  It's a wonderful practice.  There are three doctors:  Dr. Arter, Dr. Finn, and Dr. Wuerzel.  They are affiliated with St. John's Mercy, but they have privileges at MoBap and were at the hospital every day to check on the baby when she was born.  My daughter is 15 months now, and I have been able to get in to see OUR pediatrician (Dr. Arter) every time--even sick child visits--which means a lot to me.  I did really like Dr. Finn (he saw Kate once or twice in the hospital--they alternate which doctor does rounds).  I have not met Dr. Wuerzel, because she had a baby the same time I did, so she was on maternity leave and did not do rounds while we were in the hospital.  The practice was recommended to me by one of my best friends, who happens to be a pediatrician (she practices in Alton, so it really wasn't practical for us to go see her), so that endorsement meant a lot.
  • Congrats on your pregnancy!

My kids see Patricia Wolff at Forest Park Pediatrics.  There are 4 other Drs there.

They are at the corner of Forest Park Parkway and Taylor.

    Their # is 314-535-7855

I don't have rants or raves about them but feel I have had decent experiences with them.  They are always quick to call me back.  They have Sat. hours.  The nurses and the office people are great, too.

Where in Maplewood are you located?

My parents live in Maplewood and I am over here during the week to take care of my Dad.

  • oh and may I suggest a mom's board that a lot of the ladies on here are on:

they are always a fountain of info and support

  • Dr Ganninger (first post) used to work at St John's peds ER, and she's absolutely fantastic. I miss her a lot! Esse Pediatrics on Watson (in Affton) has several good doctors. 2 docs I work with recommended Pete Putnam or Karen Norton to me. Their practice is too far away from us, but they admit to St Johns or Childrens.
  • i love my ped - she is in an office by herself with 3 PNP (nurse practioners). Her name is dr. nancy holmes. she is located at 170 and ladue. i orginally met her before i had kids and remembered her when i did. she is very very nice and a wonderful doctor. when luke was born there was a mix up on his labs and she called herself many times to appologize and check on him. she also will see the kids through college, while other peds generally want the kids to move on at 18. my ped wanted my care transferred when i got boobs and  my period - so you never know i guess :) of the others mentioned, i have heard good things about dr. finn (love that his practice is blue fish = dr finn, haha!!) and dr putnam. i worked with dr putnum when he was chief at slch. good luck and congrats!

  • oh dr.holmes will come see the baby at mo bap too.
  • I love Dr. Jennifer Dunn!  She is awesome!  I know she has a few offices, I'm not sure if one of them is in that area though.
