URGENT: foster needed for 2 WI doxies

I just received this email - I don't think we can handle 6 dogs right now :/ We'll do it if their only option is to be PTS, but I'd love to find a foster home to put them in directly so they aren't traumatized by more transports, etc. I know Amy is willing to do whatever she can so they aren't PTS. The DRNA pres was willing to allow me to take them on, so if you know of anyone that would take them on, we can get them set up as a foster home through DRNA. --------

I need HELP.

The owner called the shelter in Walworth County and they will not take these two dogs because they are "too old". She was referred to me by the vet clinic. The woman needs them out by Wednesday; they were suppose to be out by May 1st, and she got a one week "extension" until the 7th. Everyone is telling her to put them to sleep, and she doesn't want to. She just got the dogs in January from her ex-husband.

They are having to spend 10+ hours a day in a crate, and it's not fair to the dogs. They are not used to being in a crate because at her ex's house they were free to roam the house. They cry in their crates and she knows it isn't fair to them.

This is what I know:

Delavan, WI (Southeastern, WI)

Max

Neutered

Up to date on vaccinations

Will be 10 yrs old in August

Red smooth "calm & curious"

Molly

Spayed

Up to date on vaccinations

Will be 10 yrs in November

Black/tan smooth

"great dane in dachs body" "a little shy at first"

They were living in a house with a Rottweiler until January, '08. They are housetrained, but if not let out they will have accidents (they scratch at door). They haven't been around cats. They are not microchipped. They are good with kids, men, & women. She referred to them both as "mini", I forgot to ask weights. She has had them since they were puppies (then they were with her ex). She has Tuesday (05/06) off of work, and is available and willing to help with transportation. She was crying on the phone. Please, please, let me know if anyone has foster room space. I can't take them as fosters because I have 5 right now and am totally over the City limit. I can however, offer transportation help and temporary foster care until the weekend.

Please call if you can help or email at motorbuzz@idcnet.com ASAP.
