Help an Oregon Nestie

I will be in Lake Tahoe on the 15th through the 19th.  I have been watching the weather and it looks like low to mid 60's is what I can expect.

Is this pretty typical weather for the time of year?  I want to make sure I pack accordingly.

TIA!

Re: Help an Oregon Nestie

  • I do believe that it is pretty typical.....but it has also been known to snow around Memorial Day so definately come prepared.
  • We were there last month and it got pretty chilly in the evenings. One night while in the hot tub it snowed, I think it was 19 degrees, but it was a light dusting. There really wasn't any snow on the ground only high up on the mountain, so we took the kids up for an afternoon of snow fun. I would pack for both warmer and colder weather just in case.
  • That's definitely how it's been... we have had the most gorgeous spring EVER this year!  It does get chilly at night, it's mostly the sun that's warm during the day.   It's supposed to get REALLY warm this week and through the weekend.  Like in the 70s during the day at the Lake!

This is absolutely the most reliable weather link you can check -   http://www.ktvn.com/Global/category.asp?C=90453  - one of the local stations with my favorite meteorologist.  I'd keep an eye on it daily for the extended forecast.  Things CAN change rapidly around here... but it's been so stable the past few months I think you're going to be here at a great time!  :)

Bear in mind that the temps you see on the main page are for Reno, which is always a good 10-15 degrees warmer than Tahoe.  Click on the Tahoe link and you should find local temps up there.

Where are you going in Tahoe?  South Shore?  (That's my hometown Smile)
