Is there a Madison board? I couldn't find one so I thought I would post here. I am traveling this weekend to Lacrosse and next week to the Dells. I had a very mild placenta abruption and my Dr said it is fine to travel but I need to know where the major birthing hospitals are in route to my destination and closest to my destination just in case I would have another abruption and it would be worse. (I have a higher chance of having another since I have had one already)
So Anyone know where the best hospitals are in Madison, Dells Area, and Lacrosse? If possible would like a high level NICU because worse case scenerio I would be delivering a preemie.
I googled but didn't find the best info.
TIA
Re: Madison/WI Dells/LaCrosse hospitals
(there is no madison board.... so, you found us!)
In madison, we have 3 hospitals, but only St. Mary's and Meriter have a NICU. I know St. Mary's is new, but that's about all I can tell you. You'd be fine at either. I think the general consensus on this board might be that people like L&D better at Meriter, but I don't know all the specifics of why.
I hope you have safe travels!!!!
St. Mary's and Meriter are the big ones in Madison

My son was born at Meriter in Madison, and I was really VERY happy with everyone there. I know that both Meriter and St. Mary's would be well-equipped to help you and your little one.
I don't know anything about LaCrosse or the Dells -- sorry!
The two closest hospitals to Wisconsin Dells are;
St Clare Hospital in Baraboo : http://www.stclare.com/internet/home/stclare.nsf
Reedsburg Area Medical Center in Reedsburg : http://www.ramchealth.com/
Generally, if you are staying in the Dells, St Clare Hospital is where you would go unless you requested to go elsewhere.
there are also hospitals in mauston, tomah and sparta

Gundersen Lutheran in LaCrosse has the highest level NICU in the area. GL is the best in the area.
I know I might be late letting you know this though so I hope it is helpful.
I went to nursing school in La Crosse and did clinicals at both Francisican-Skemp and Gundersen-Lutheran. Both hospitals are good but Gundersen is probably better equipped for a complicated pregnancy.
I live in Madison and know people who work at Meriter. Meriter and St. Mary's both have NICUs. I only know people who have delivered at Meriter. They have all had very good experiences, even my friend who went into labor early.
St. Clare's in Baraboo is a very small hospital. I don't know much about it, though.
