First day of finals for my students today

I have two of my five classes that are taking finals.  Last night, I wrote the two exams PLUS the one for the class that has one tomorrow.  (Two more on Monday before Regents start.)  That was nice that I got all that done especially since I have a thing to go to tonight.  My dreams last night, however, were total anxiety dreams.  I dreamt about all the students cheating and doing strange things during the exam.  In reality, it is probably going to be a quiet day.  I hate waking up to dreams like that.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day, regardless of the rain.

Re: First day of finals for my students today

  • Good luck with the exams today, I'm sure everything will go over just fine. And yes, I hate crazy dreams like that too.
  • I kept meaning to mention this...in one of my circle of friends there are a few elementary/middle school school teachers, and on facebook their main focus appears to be complaining about any work they have to do (which includes showing up), and whining when one of their (many more than most of us get) breaks are up. Your school-related posts (of actual concern and interest in the work--yay) are such a relief to that. I'm not saying that we don't all dread work sometimes and we all regret the end of a holiday, but the theme of whining in this particular group of teachers I know (who are all at a really cush suburban school) rubs many in that circle the wrong way.

So thanks for your very different tone.

  • Woo hoo! What do you teach? What age group? Where? (just curious)
  • Good luck with exams and regents.  I hope all goes well.  You are almost done!
  • Good luck with finals!  I was so worried about my students' finals as well - my nightmares were more along the lines of I totally screwed up and asked them a question that really had no answer, and the students flipped (law students are known to flip occasionally...) and I got in trouble for being an inadequate professor and giving them a bad final.

And the scary part is that I almost did that - I almost forgot to change the dates on their essay question which almost rendered the entire essay moot, because the statute of limitations had run on all claims.  So, that would have been fun - an essay that is supposed to be several pages long would have been able to be answered in one sentence - all causes of action are barred because the statute of limitations has run.  Would've been fun grading THAT.....
