cakes from Jewel or Dominicks?

my godson (along with my BIL and SIL) will be in town next week just 2 days after is 1st birthday.    i'm going to get some balloons and a little banner to decorate our house...  but i also want to have a cake.   unfortunately, i can't make it myself, since we will be OOT until the night before they arrive.    so i'm stuck buying a cake.   anyone ever try the cakes from Jewel or Dominicks?   Any strong feelings about them?  are they decent?  

 

I can always go to Whole Foods... but I figure if the cheap cakes are tasty, why spend more....

I grew up on Jewel cakes. They're decent. Good frosting, nice looking, and tasty. Haven't tried Dominicks cake, but we've never been big Dominick's shoppers. Have fun!

I'm not too sure about the Jewel/Dominicks cakes, but do you have a Sam's club card?  They have really good cakes and they are really inexpensive as well.  I've always gotten good reveiws anytime I had a Sam's club cake.

Sam's Club and Costco cakes ROCK.   sadly, our Costco membership expired, and we just don't go there enough for me to renew it.   :-(   and i wouldn't have time to hike out there even if we did.   sad.

I was going to suggest Costco.  I had a cake from Jewel at a party recently and it was good -- nothing exceptional but good.

If it helps, our wedding cake was from Dominicks (long story) and was pretty awesome! I found Dominicks cakes to be more moist and the icing tastier than Jewel cakes (although those come in at a good second between the 2)

We just got this fantastic cake for my sons birthday from Dominicks.

Although it was a long time ago, my mom got my 16th birthday party cake from Jewel, complete with a baby picture of me. It was very good and the picutre looked so cool.

I also remember that the red icing stained my face, but that's another story.
