Planning vacay to KC/Worlds of Fun--suggestions?
Hi everyone! I'm an Omaha native hoping some of you can give me some recommendations on a mini-vacay my hubby and I are looking to take, probably next month. We will probably be there a Wed-Fri or Sat. and planned on going to Worlds of Fun and maybe the Plaza but not sure what we should hit. We love roller coasters and it's been awhile since we've been to WOF and will go there 1 or 2 days. I'm looking for any recommendations on places to stay that gets us close to WOF and other fun places, visit, eat etc. if any of you care to share so we can make the most of our short stay. Thanks!
Kari
Re: Planning vacay to KC/Worlds of Fun--suggestions?
I haven't been to WOF in many years, so I can't tell you too much about what is new there. As for finding a hotel, it is very near Front Street off I-435 and there are hotels there and I would strongly recommend NOT staying there! DH is an officer and knows firsthand that waaay too much happens on Front Street. I would stay on/near the Plaza, downtown near the Power & Light District, or even up near Liberty for a quick drive down I-35/I-435.
As for other places to go/things to do/places to eat, I would recommend:The Power and Light District in downtown KC, the Plaza as you mentioned, The Legends area over by KS Speedway.
Also try the Legends area. There's some cool stuff to do there for kids and adults. Google "Legends shopping Kansas City"
Have fun!
How fun!
I am from Nebraska and just moved here, so I've done a lot of "touristy things" in town... We were just at WOF last weekend... it hasn't changed TOO much over the years, still fun, a few new roller coasters. We went to Oceans of Fun last year, I loved that. I had never been to a water park before though. I would suggest staying downtown (Holiday Inn Aladdin is fairly inexpensive and has awesome interior (think retro chic in a historic building).. and within walking distance of the new Power and Light district which is tons of fun- bars, restaurants, bowling alley, dueling piano bar, or just go and people watch. I would also recommend touring the Boulevard Brewery if you are in to microbrews. Its free, you just have to call and make reservations. Sometimes you can call last minute and they have openings too. Other than that the shopping is good at Plaza and Zona Rosa and Legends, etc... or take in a Royals game, those are always fun too. They have a humungo plasma screen there now (like 3 times bigger than at memorial stadium in Lincoln)..
Hope those ideas help! Have fun!!!
