New here and need suggestions

Hi girls! I am very new here. Just got married on June 5th. DH and I did not go on a honeymoon right away becasue we got married in our hometown and had to take so much time off for that. But, I am looking for some suggestions for a great place to go on a mini-honeymoon right here in SD or somewherE nearby. We are newer to the area (we have been here only 1 year) and would love to here some of your ideas. TIA! And, I look forward to getting to know you all!

  • I would take the Amtrak up to Santa Barbara and spend a long weekend there. ?:)

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

Great idea! I might steal this for when J gets home. He told me to plan a trip.

  • Santa Barbara is great, you could also check out Palm Springs or Catalina island I hear is a fun place although I've never been - hope this helps
  • I agree with PP.  We went to Catalina for our honeymoon and stayed at the Villa Portofino for a few nights and have a great time.
  • We did Santa Barbara for our 6 month anniversary and LOVED it :) We drove up (instead of the train) and loved the drive. It was beautiful! And we got to hit a few outlets when we came back.

We went to Palm Springs when we were newly engaged and had a great time. The resorts are super cheap during the summer months.

  • I was just in Palm Desert (it's right next to Palm Springs), it was a girls weekend and my first time and it was great.  Just know that it's VERY hot there right now.  We stayed at the JW and it's a self contained resort, a great way to go there.

My Husband and I did Santa Barbara/Laguna in March.  Santa Barbara was great, we stayed at the Harbour House Inn (http://www.harborhouseinn.com/) for a few nights and LOVED it.  Great location and they have bikes for you to use.  We came part way south and stayed the last night at the Casa Laguna Inn (http://www.casalaguna.com/).  Another wonderful place, if you can, splurge on a room, we had the basic one and it was very small.  The breakfast included is AMAZING!

My Husband and I have also done Catalina, we didn't love it.  I think I was expecting too much.  Definitely do it, just for a night or two though.

You could even stay REALLY local...Coronado...La Jolla (we stayed at the La Jolla Inn http://www.lajollainn.com/ the night of our wedding)...there are so many things to do and places to go locally!
