new to Chicago- need vet recommendation in Dtown

Hi Ladies-

I'm new to Chicago and my DH and I are renting in Streeterville right now. Any recommendations for a vet nearby?

 TIA!

  • If you head north to Lakeview, I recommend Blum Animal Hospital on Clark.  It's where Oprah takes her dogs (ok someone for Oprah..... or they probably make house calls for her).  Anyway, I take my dog there and they are great.

  • i don't have a pet, but i know there is a Vet office at the corner of State Street and 11th Street in the South Loop.   I see TONS of people there, so they can't be too terrible.    I think its called Burnham something or another?
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.

  • We live in River North, and we take Goldie, our 3 lb pom to Dr. Boin at Near North Animal Hospital on Chicago and Wells, 312.944.5350. We also have taken her to Gold Coast Animal Hospital right around the corner on Chicago, 312.337.7387. Welcome to Chitown!
  • It isn't in the loop, but we LOVE Family Pet in Lincoln Park.  The vets and the vet techs are so caring, call back when we have questions, etc.  It's like having a pediatrician for your animal.  They have the highest rankings you can get too.
  • I also use Blum Animal Hospital in Lincoln park.  Great vet, but very expensive
  • We took our 7 yr old Lab to the Family Vet in Lincoln Park (previously mentioned) when he had an emergency when we just moved here.  They were good and gave us an emergency vist.  However, we switched vets due to the location and the hours.

We are currently using Compassionate Vet over on Larabee & Lincoln (3 way intersection).  It is an easy walk for us (versus having to deal with parking).  We haven't had complaints about them.  Since Conrad is getting older we wanted to take him to a vet who has some additional speciality in older animals.
