where to get reusable water bottles????

I'm trying to go "eco friendly" and want to get some reusable water bottles for our house.  We use entirely too many plastic bottles.  So, i'm looking for bottles that are similar in size (and mouth opening) to a basic water bottle and have figured out there are too many out there!  LOL.  What do you use, where to get, and price?  I've read some of the aluminum give off a metal taste or the mouth openings are too wide... or, don't fit in the cupholders in most cars, etc.

What would you recommend????

Re: where to get reusable water bottles????

  • I'm still using my Nalgene bottles, but if I didn't already have a few of them, I'd buy the Sigg aluminum bottles.  I've heard lots of great things and I don't think they give off the metal taste.  I know they sell them at Whole Foods.
  • I love my Sigg bottle.

www.reusablebags.com sells them. ?On the topic of eco-friendly choices, they also sell Chico bags to take with you to the store. ?They are amazingly convenient and I always keep a couple in my purse.

If you search for coupon codes online, you can get 20% off your order.?

  • I love my Klean Kanteen. It's made of stainless steel and it's light and very sturdy. I looked at the Sigg also, but I chose the KK because it does not have a liner. (The reviews at Amazong were really helpful, too!) The KK is so easy to clean. I handwash it quickly, but I also put it in the dishwasher. I use the loop top cap and that makes it really easy to carry on my finger. However, it makes a small sound when I unscrew it. It's no big deal, but I'm sensitive to it if I'm in a meeting. I bought mine on amazon. I have a 27 oz which is great! It's just for water and you can't put anything hot inside. It doesn't insulate, but it tends to keep my water cooler than in a plastic bottle. Good luck! They might carry them at REI.
Note--There was a slight metallic taste for the first week. Then it disappeared and my water tastes great!

  • We have been using Nalgene bottles, but with the recent issues coming forward regarding the chemicals leaching from the plastic are changing to metal bottles.  Everyone I know that has a Sigg loves it.  We have purchased several Klean Kanteens, and think they're pretty great too.  REI in Brentwood is the only place that has them here in STL.  Definitely a little more expensive than Nalgene, but after reading that the bisphenyl A has estrogen effects on fetal tissue, I'm okay with the extra money.
