As i said in my into post, i am new here my husband and i are currnetly looking to buy a home in nassau long island, we have a one year old baby girl and two dogs..lol.....so what part of long island is everyone from? any kids? pets?

i ws thinking the same thing the first time i posted here lol i havent had much time to come online lately, but hopefully after we move ill have more free time.
we currently live in huntington. just bought our first house in bethpage. we're moving june 25. cant wait! although the house seems to need more work than we thought
we're still excited. im originally from ct, ive lived in ny for 6 years. my FI and i are getting married jan 8. we have no kids but i have a cat, bentley. we'd like to get a dog after we move and settle in but we cant agree on what we'd like, big dog, small dog, medium etc. he likes small dogs and i like medium to large dogs lol
where in nassau are you looking to buy?

We just got married three weeks ago, and we're currently living in Oyster Bay. We've been renting there for the last three years, and we'd love to stay in the area. However, as we avidly search for something to buy, we're realizing how difficult that might be. So, I'm in the process of expanding our options. Hicksville seems to be a possibility. It's close to my work, an easy commute to the city for my husband, centrally located etc. Eventually we'd like to move back to CT (where we're both originally from), to raise our family.
Where are some other good towns to check out?
thanks for the responses ladies........were looking to buy in north bellmore or Wantagh its really draining lol... between finding a house that dont need to much work, and a home with low taxes also i'd like to find a home that has a finished basement so after i have child number two maybe i can just get a nanny.
and we compromised we got a medium dog and a small dog......but i'll never do that again two dogs plus a baby ..........just way to much WORK!

we originally were set on hicksville, also because it is centrally located. my FI works in jersey city but we werent thrilled with the neighborhoods or the houses. we ended up buying a house in bethpage, the town just south of hicksville. its a 45-50 minute train into the city and the town is nice and the schools are top notch. everyone tells me bethpage has an awesome school district.
im also originally from ct. i grew up in middletown. where are you guys from?

wantagh and bellmore have high taxes. as i said in my last post we were originally looking hicksville, besides the commute, they have reasonable taxes. once we started actually looking at houses however, we couldnt find one we liked in a good neighborhood, that didnt need a complete overhaul. we also wanted a house that didnt need too much work. we found a house in bethpage with higher taxes but nicer neighborhoods and better schools. its hard, everywhere on LI has high taxes. it sucks but what can you do lol
"bertosbride"...congratulations on your recent purchase. How's it going so far? Someone else this week also hinted that Bethpage was a good option. We're heading out this weekend to see a ton a houses. So, wish us luck!
