Our dog just tested positive for heartworm

He's going to be fine. He has 2 treatments to go through - one tomorrow, and one next month. But in the meantime, he can't run, play, or get his heartbeat up too high. Poor guy.
Re: Our dog just tested positive for heartworm
Aww poor guy! Hope he gets better real soon!
How do dogs get that?
I couldn't find a definitive answer online (DH took the pup to the vet so I wasn't there). But, it looks like it's from a bite - maybe mosquitos? Dogs are usually fine with monthly heartworm medicine, and it's one of the normal tests that they are given at the annual check-up.
NO symptoms. Usually lethargy is the #1 symptom, but that is not the case for our CRAZY dog. I went to renew his heartworm medicine and the vet suggested a precautionary heartworm test, which we didn't think would come back positive.
