Mothers of 2 -- flying question
Hi girls... I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!
We are flying to NY again this summer (first time with Ainsley) and I want to bring our Sit and Stand stroller. I planned to gate check it along with A's carseat, but started thinking that their may be a problem b/c it's so much larger than the travel system stroller that I usually bring.
Has anyone had a problem gate checking these strollers? (We're flying Allegiant, so if anyone also has info on this particular airline, that would be great.)
Thanks!
Re: Mothers of 2 -- flying question
I have never flown Alegiant (looked into it but they seem to have all these add on fees that made them more expensive then Southwest) but I usually bring my jeep jogging stroller (its pretty big IMO) and never have had a problem gate checking it on Southwest, Delta, or American.
It doesn't fit through the security scanners so I have to wait for a TSA person to come get it and manually check it (sometimes that can take a little longer if they are busy).
I agree about the add on fees. Fortunately, we found $29 (each way) tickets and have figured that we can fit our clothes (DH, mine, and Ainsley's) into one large suitcase, and Aidan's stuff will fit into a carry-on. We only "chose" 2 seats for DH and Aidan, I can sit anywhere with Ainsley. But last time I checked, the seats next to DH and Aidan are still open, so we can request to sit there when we check in. All in all, the 4 of us (3 paid tickets) are flying for just under $350 round trip.
Another advantage is that this airline flies into Plattsburg ( a really small airport - smaller than Melbourne). The next closest airport (Burlington and Syracuse) adds 1.5 hrs and 2.5 hours to our drive to the ILs. And it was still cheaper than flying into Syracuse.
Thanks for reminding me about the x-ray machine. We'll plan a little extra time for that.
Thanks again!
Thanks for the info. Next time we use MCO,we'll def look for it.
