PCP/TTC/ATP Wednesday

I haven't posted on this for a while and figured I would kick it off.

Updates???

QOTD:  What activity/time of day are you most looking forward to when you have a child, or if you already one, what is currently your favorite?

Re: PCP/TTC/ATP Wednesday

  • Maggie is doing great.  I can't believe how quickly she is growing -- she is a big 5 1/2 months old.  She is moving around like crazy and wants to crawl.  She is also working on sitting up.  We fed her avocado for her first food last week.  She seemed to like it but does not having the swallowing thing down yet -- lots of crazy green drool.

QOTD: I have two answers.  First is immediately after she wakes up.  She is lying between W and I and looks back and forth with the hugest smile.  Each time she turns she seems surpised to see us and puts her hand on our faces.  I think it is her favorite time of day because we are all together and full attention is on her.
My other favorite is naked time.  We give her at least an hour each day (30 mins in the morning and 30 at night) unclothed/undiapered and sometimes during the day as well.  We waterproof the area below her with a cloth diaper prefold, a blanket and sometimes a changing pad.  She loves to be naked.  She is her most mobile and free at this time.  It is the cutest thing to watch her put her tush in the air in an attempt to crawl.

  • Our update is that we are in week two of the tww.  This is first even numbered month we have inseminated and the first cycle she is on prometrium 200 mg.  The prometrium has had some interesting side effects - so in part we are unsure if she is having pregnancy symptoms.  We are going to her parents' for the weekend so that will help us wait to test until we get back.  We are 110% ready to be in the pregnant club.

I would say I am really looking forward to post-nursing cuddle for all three of us.  And also taking the baby out on the town - as in Target or grocery store. :)

  • we have the big ultrasound next wednesday. i'm getting really, really excited and really, really nervous. we've both had a couple of baby dreams lately and the baby has been a boy in all of them. i think it just means that we're both anxious to know--although it's funny because on monday my dad told me unprompted that he thinks we're having a boy, and we've had quite a few other people say that, too. we'll see!

yesterday she said that it was one of those days when if we had one of those doppler heartbeat things she would have used it just to reassure herself because she wasn't "feeling" pregnant like she has been...if that makes any sense. she's starting to show a little more as we go along, though. it's making her clothes fit a little tighter but it isn't really obvious to the casual observer. she still only looks clearly pregnant when she's naked--and then it's very obvious.

qotd: i'm not sure what i'm looking forward to the most. right now i'm just looking forward to having the baby here and holding it and kissing it's little head and feet.

  • We're also in the second week of the 2ww (or 16dw in our case).  This week is moving a bit quicker since I'm working a night job as well.  I'm not feeling hopeful this cycle and wish I could move my beta up and just get on with round 3.  But who knows, maybe we'll get a surprise - right? Hmm K talks about wanting a baby and more which is great.  I know we've been on the same page but it's just so nice to have her verbalize it. For those of you curious about phantom symptoms - I have none.

QOTD: From my experience working in a daycare I would venture to guess that my favorite times of day will be when our baby first wakes up, when they just settle into sleep, and feeding time.

  • Update - I think we'll have a male nanny!  He came for an interview last night and was a very nice young gay boy. Big Smile  He was really good with the kids and they took to him quickly (something they haven't done with the other candidates.) He's got a lot of energy and came with some good idea an how to occupy them.  We have one more interview tonight - but unless she can fly or something, we're sold on having a manny. Wink

I love mornings and night time when we are all in bed together cuddling and watching their videos. Ok, I find their videos painful (right now we have to watch either firefighters or police officer DVDs and we've seen them 1001x.) But they cuddle up with us and put their heads on our chests and I love playing with their hair.

I am also loving taking them to new places and seeing their reaction to new experiences. It is so fun to see the world through their eyes.

  • Nothing major going on here yet, just working on our PCP stuff. I finished school last Friday, turning in my students grades/exams Saturday and relaxed Sunday. (Being done with the first year of grad school is on our PCP list). On Monday I got a massage and this Friday I start acupuncture. I'm really looking forward to it!

I've been working some postpartum doula jobs and caring for babies is ramping up my already high BOTB. As a result, I've been lurking on other Bump boards and researching cloth diapers. I found some gently used ones of the brand I'd like to try on craigslist that are a great deal, so I may buy some cloth diapers today (admittedly a little crazy). These would be added to to our ever increasing baby clothing stash (I got a few more items this weekend at a yard sale in a nice neighborhood). I can't wait to move so I can have a whole room (future kids' room) to store this stuff in (and decorate).

AOTD: I'm really looking forward to sleeping/waking with our little one and post-nursing cuddles.

  • Things here are pretty good.  I have been having som major heart burn at night which sucks but tums are my best friend right now.  Sleep has also been a problem so I am a bit cranky of late.  School ends next week and I can not wait!  I am tired and starting to swell. My feet are not fairing very well at all.  I am usually a 6.5 and am now wearing S's shoes and she is an 8!   My next step is clown shoes.  The kids are telling me that I am waddling!  How fun.  The baby is moving around a ton and that is fun.  The lunch ladies all think I am having a girl and now give me free milk!  It is very cute.

I am really looking forward to going to the lake house and playing in the water with the baby.  Next year he/she will be a great age for sitting at the edge and spashing! I am also looking forward to just hanging out and being a family!

  • Nothing new for us this week.  I've been obsessing over cloth diapers and trying to figure out which one I want to use once we have a LO.

QOTD: Right now I enjoy the 15 mintues I get alone with my daughter when I pick her up from school.  She tells me all about her day and sings to me on the ride home.  When she was a baby I loved to watch her as I fed her.

That is so cool!  I never thought about avocado as a first food - I'm sooo doing that!  It's my favorite food so why wouldn't I want to share it? :-)

  • Update: I think yesterday was CD1. I haven't had any real sign of AF today, but yesterday was probably heavy enough to qualify. Still, this 1 day AF thing seems a little odd. But I put the call in to the RE like I'm supposed to, and anticipate going in tomorrow for my baseline "CD3" u/s and bloodwork.

The RE is keeping my meds the same this month as they were last month, so no news there. We haven't really discussed it much, but will likely stick with our same donor (we like him much better than our #2 pick, and-- BONUS!!-- the first pregnancy using his swimmers was just reported). So, same-ol'/same-ol' for IUI #3.

QOTD: I am really looking forward to reading bedtime stories. This was one of my favorite things growing up, and when I got older I used to read to my little brothers before they went to bed. I like the ritual and it's nice bonding time.

IUI #3 gave us the best 2nd anniv. gift ever: 2 babies! (born 03/09/10)

L reads to them every night and she loves the ritual.  They have their own little ritual that they do and they all love it.

  • Not too much to update you on... we're making headway on the PCP list, but in some ways we're going backwards! I'm getting closer to graduation but further in debt :(

AOTD:  I'm looking forward to being involved in all those things you can really only do with kids!  Like going to Disney movies at the theater, playing at the park, playing in general... Of course, those sweet, quiet moments too.

  • Very late... I had a jury summons for today, was there from 9 - 5:30, then didn't get selected.

So my update is that I made my first appointment... it will be July 2nd, I'll be in my 6th week. And the midwife told me she'll give me a note then for an early ultrasound (to be done week 8ish). This is definitely a HUGE relief as I don't know that I could wait until 12 weeks again.

QOTD: I'm looking forward to the feeding session right before bed... quiet, calm, just me and the babe.
