Recs for a Salon in/around Anchorage?

I'm headed to Wasilla in a week to visit my sister, and I want to get my hair cut while I'm back in the US.  A haircut costs around $80 here Indifferent, and I want to send it to Locks of Love while I'm in the States anyway.

Right now my hair is almost down to my waist, and since I'm going to cut a lot off, I thought I might as well just go all the way and cut it really short.  But since it's a big change and I don't really know what will look good on me, be easy to maintain, etc. I want to go to a salon that I can trust and that will be able to help me out with suggestions.

Price isn't really an issue if there's a place you think would be great, but I'd prefer to limit it to around $40.  Is that even reasonable?  My sister tells me that Alaska is expensive, but I don't know how expensive it really is.  I'm guessing you can still get a haircut for under 80 bucks!
Big Smile

(And I know that Wasilla isn't really in Anchorage, but I have a feeling we'll be spending some time in the city anyway for sightseeing, visiting her office, etc. If you know of a place in Wasilla, that would be awesome, of course!)

Thanks a lot!

  • I have no good recomendations... however I know some salons will give you a free or discounted haircut if you are donating to Locks of Love, so you might want to call around when making an apointment.

  • I go to Michelle at Chez Ritz in Anchorage.  I just cut off my hair to donate to Locks of Love at my last hair appointment. They don't give a discount for that.  I think my cut cost around $40.

Do you think they'd be willing to walk me through this?  I seriously have no idea what kind of short style would look good on me, and I'm afraid of being one of those annoying clients who doesn't know what she wants.  Embarrassed

  • Chez Ritz is suppose to be a really nice hair place, people just have trouble finding it! My friends friend goes there. I go to  Anne Marina at The Vibe in Eagle River and I love her! and pretty much everyone else that works there too!

Thanks so much!  I ended up making an appointment at Chez Ritz with Estelle.  She was fantastically patient with me, and I love my cut!
