This is kind of a weird question, but what exactly determines your state residency? Is it the state where you have a driver's license? Some other document?
Here's my issue:
My parents live in Georgia, which is what I consider my permanent address, however I have been living in Central Florida for the past year doing an internship. My car insurance, health insurance, etc. is all calculated on my permanent address (GA) but I need to get a driver's license with my new married name so it will match my ss card.
Unfortunately, getting a new GA drivers license requires going home, because it has to be done in person. I don't mind doing this, but if I could just get a FL driver's license, it would be much, much easier. I don't want to screw up all my insurance though - would getting a FL driver's license officially make me a FL resident? I'm just not sure what constitutes your "residency" - does anyone else know?
Thanks in advance!
