Candy Apples = Relief (Long)

My DW is a jack of all trades...  In some ways it's a good thing but it's also been a bad thing.

She used to work as a ramper for United Airlines (loading bags onto planes, backing planes onto the runway, etc.) but badly injured her arms and back which has left her 25% disabled.  She was put on disability for 2 years while she went through physical therapy and a lawsuit with UA; she was finally released back to work last August.  Of course the state of the economy and her disabilities have made finding a "normal" job almost impossible.  She started her own business back in February, a mobile detailing service, and it's done alright.  It supplements my income to where we've made our rent and bills every month but haven't had any extra to set aside.

 Well.....

This past weekend I had to make an apple pie that a coworker ordered from me (I have my own small baking business) and we had a ton of leftover apples so DW decided to make candy apples.  On Monday, she took them to the clinics where MIL and SIL work and they sold immediately. She text me to let me know she was going home to make more; she sold all of those that afternoon.  Monday night she made 40 more candy apples and sold them all on Tuesday morning, went home and made 40 more and AGAIN sold them all that afternoon!  Same thing on Wednesday!!!  She now has an order for 50 apples for a birthday party in July.

Last night she named herself the Ace of Apples which I changed to the Master of Manzanas.  She told me not to tell anyone that she is making candy apples because it's "gay", you all know how that term was meant...  She thinks that since I'm the baker/girly one, I should be the one who does that type of thing.  I say do what you like and what makes money, let the haters hate.  Her little venture into candy apple making has brought some extra income in for us and provided us with some chocolate covered bonding time. :o)

Being a jack of all trades can be a relief sometimes.
