Re: Recs for Birthing Classes?

  • I just took the regular birthing class that the hospital offered. Yes, I would rec. it! I had a *very* natural birth plan... well that all went up in flames so I was very glad that I knew about all the interventions they had up their sleeve. If I hadn't of seen the monitor that goes in the baby's scalp prior to being in labor and them needing to use it, I would have absolutely flipped out! Plus, we got a great hospital tour.
  • We are doing the class through Expectant Parents Organization (EPO)

We are doing the Saturday class at the end of this month.

    How's the pregnancy going?

  • The one at Sparrow is the one I was looking at as well!  Did you guys do all three classes?  Or just the one? Is there any you wish you hadn't gone to?

  • Okay, sounds good--the one through EPO is what we were looking at.? I wanted to do a Bradley class, but it was only offered this month or in August, which are odd dates for us--too early and too late.? I had heard good things about the EPO classes.

The pregnancy is going well--thanks for asking.? Except for some morning sickness that hasn't quite let up yet as well as the fatigue, nothing too out of the ordinary, so I'm thankful.? We have our 'big' u/s on June 6th, so it'll be nice to hear one more time that baby is okay, although we aren't finding out the gender.

So much to research, is what I'm finding!!!

  • I had Noah at Ingham so I'm not sure about the classes at Sparrow... Our class was 2 hours every Thursday for 5 or 6 weeks, which I liked better than the idea of sitting for an entire Saturday. My class had info. on all the 'tools' they could possibly use, what happens in birth, breathing techniques, a whole class on breastfeeding which was awesome, the hospital tour, and a bunch of other stuff. They gave us free stuff! haha  We really liked our class and the instructor. She had been a L&D nurse for over 10 yrs and was pregnant with her FIFTH baby!
