Hi everyone - I am new to both the marriage life and to the Orlando area. I just moved to the area from Michigan. Any advice, recommendations, places to go, places not to go....anything is much appreciated.
Thanks
Re: Newbie
There are so many factors involved when it comes to deciding where to buy a house. I would actually recommend waiting a bit before buying if you are new to the area. It takes awhile to get your bearings of Orlando, find what you like/what you don't like, become familar with the different highways and commutes, etc. It's a bit frightening to think about where my husband and I might have bought a house the first year we lived in Orlando. lol
A lot of child-free couples enjoy living in the downtown area, while other families with children have bought houses on the outskirts of Orlando to get more bang for their buck. If money is no object, Dr Phillips is a very nice area that is centrally located. I also like Windermere, although the taxes can be very high in that area.
If you want a decent sized yard, you may have to settle for a house that is a bit older. Many of the new builds have such tiny, tiny yards compared to what you are used to in Michigan.
Good luck!
