How are you doing? It's your turn next :) I can't wait to hear that you've had your 2 beautiful little girls and that everyone is healthy and doing well. I really hope you're able to give birth vaginally. I was so jealous of the other new moms on the post-partum floor up and walking around right away and leaving the hospital so quickly!

If you have any questions let me know. I hope you're able to get some sleep these days!

Re: **Kristi**

  • I'm scheduled to go in July 17, but I honestly don't think I will make it that long.  Within the last 4 days it has gotten much much harder.  We'll see.  Was the c-section bad? I am really getting nervous for that.  We need baby A to turn.  Right now she is breech.  Baby B is head down.  If they are both head down then they will let me go vaginally as long as there is no stress on me or the babies.

  • I had a c/s with the girls because Logan was on the bottom and breech. It was not as bad as I expected. My advice is that you get up and move around as soon as they let you. It will hurt the first few times up-I am not going to lie, but the sooner and more you move around the easier they say recovery is. Keep up with the pain meds the first few days that helped as well-oh and colace. Not to be too much TMI but the spinal slows everything down and it will take a few days for everything to start moving again-colace helped. Even with the c/s I held the girls about 30min after they were born-Brian was with them the whole time, and was able to bf (not sure if you are planning to or not) at that point as well. If you are going to bf I can give you some tips on doing it with 2 if you want.
  • I can only imagine how you must feel pregnant with twins. I know how miserable I was feeling and I just had 1! I hope baby turns so you're able to try going vaginally but honestly the c-section wasn't all that bad. Granted I didn't have much time to think about it since it was an emergency but with the drugs they gave me through the epidural I really didn't feel a thing except pressure. The hardest part was getting up for the first time but like Meredith said the more you get up the easier it gets. And definitely keep up with your meds. Once you get behind in them it's hard to get caught back up. And don't be afraid to ask if you can have more pain meds if you're still in a lot of pain. Don't be discouraged if you're still stuck in bed 12+ hours after the surgery. I had Declan at 1PM and didn't get out of bed until around 11AM the next day and that was just to the bathroom and back. But shortly after that I was up standing and walking around the room and didn't want to get back into bed.

Try to get up and shower as soon as you can. When they want to remove the tape over your incision ask if you can do it while you're in the shower. It comes off so much easier when it's wet and it made it more tolerable. And definitely take some sort of stool softener. You might even want to ask your doctor when they suggest you start taking it. I started at 36 weeks in preparation.

Ask to be able to hold the girls and start breastfeeding right away (if you plan to do it). Make sure you have some granny panties at home incase you need them because they feel much better over the incision then normal underwear.

It's all still fresh in my mind so if you have any other questions let me know. I'll be thinking about you and hope you're able to make it as far as you'd like to go.

  • Thanks for the tips! I've been taking Colace.  That's been a little rough.  I actually decided not to bf.  The pediatrician is pushing it but I think the best decision for me is to ff.  I have the granny panties.  lol.

  • Not bf is completely up to you! I started bf and was getting frustrated and was about to give up but then my milk came in and it got a lot easier. Your girls will be perfectly fine being ff.

Just trust your motherly instincts. While I was in the hospital I had so many people telling me what to do and how to do it. I ignored all of them and did what I thought was right and so far it's working :)
