Need an idea for a main dish
Good morning Ladies,
I am hosting a mini baby shower for a friend at my house in two weeks and need an idea for a good main dish. I am looking for a casserole-type dish that I can pre-make and pull out of the oven when ready. Or if not a casserole, maybe something easy that can serve a lot of people? Its about 14 of us (men and women) so it needs to be big or I need to make 2.
I have already done the lasagna thing with this same group so I need a new go-to dish.
Help me!!!
Thanks in advance!
Re: Need an idea for a main dish
I saw this recipe recently on the food network. It looked so easy and yummy. The way the recipe is set up the pork is to be used in tacos, but I say just make the pork and sides instead. gl

What about a casserole with chicken, veggies and wild rice? My parents used to make a chicken, broccoli and rice casserole that was super easy.
Another fave of mine is baked macaroni and cheese w/ caramelized shallots served with goat cheese crumbles on top...
It just occured to me. You can make a brisket that I always make. It's super super easy, cheap, and you'll look like a genious in the kitchen.
1 large brisket (not low sodium, and the one that comes with the seasonings)
2 large onions cut in half
1 container of beef broth
2 beers (your favorite)
water (just enough to cover crockpot)
Pour beer and broth into crock pot. Mix in seasoning package into liquids. Rinse brisket, then put into crockpot. Put onion halfs right on top of brisket and fill with water until everything is covered (brisket will float, this is normal) You can sprinkle with a little salt (preferably kosher) for more taste. Cover and let cook for 12-13 hours. This will be the most tender and yummy piece of meat ever!! It's simply splendid. Gl!!

These may not be big enough for 14 people, but you could easily make 2 of these and put it in the oven. This is SO EASY it is unbelievable. instead of just layering the chicken breasts in I would shred the chicken before hand, it would be a lot easier to serve.

This is also delicious and easy. Also, same thing- shred the chicken beforehand.

I have made this a few times and it is super easy. You can prepare the sauce in advance and just warm it up before tossing it with the pasta which takes about 8 minutes to cook! Totally easy and definitely something you can do right when the party gets started. Also tastes decent cold.
