Holy Breakouts!

I feel like I?m in high school again! or just before AF would show up..

All weekend it seems to be getting worse and I think the heat has something to do with it. [not sure]

Grrrr?I wish I could stop it!

Re: Holy Breakouts!

  • Are you able to use the same products you did before you got pregnant?

  • Yes.

Well I don?t use much?a blackhead scrub (clean & clear) daily and once every 2 weeks apricot scrub (st. ives).

Nothing fancy?Do you think it?s doing the opposite because of the pregnancy?

I didn?t think it would make a difference.

  • Clinique. ?My skin went nutty when I was pregnant, ?I went and had a skin assessment done and bought a couple small bottles of stuff and it helped. ?Your skin does change when you are pregnant and then once you have the baby it will change again. ?My skin has finally chilled out.?

  • I wonder if using scrubs that often is causing it. I know years ago I went to get a facial and found out I was using the wrong type of products (who knew that if you have an oily t-zone that you should still moisturize) and it was causing breakouts. One of the things they told me was to exfoliate often but not too often (they recommended once a week). They also said that that apricot scrub is the devil for facial skin (I think based on what is in it that makes it a scrub).

Anyways, do you moisturize? I always thought that I didn't need to based on my skin type but as soon as I started to use one my skin cleared right up.

  • No I don't moisturize, I don't even know what to look for!

I have a mix of oily and dry areas..

I guess a trip to shoppers wouldn't hurt!

    Thanks Jen!

Any one in specific I should keep my eye out for?

  • When I was pg with J, I had horrible breakouts in the first tri, then my skin was perfect. It stayed acne-free for a few months after he was born, and then broke out worse than ever. It was as though all the pimples I would've had during that time came out all at once.

This time, no issues so far.

  • I use the Active Naturals line.

  • Oh yes...I feel like I'm one of my grade 8s!!  I also have it all over my chest and back (oh yeah...I'm hot!).  I picked up some neutrogena cleanser (the one that smells like grapefruit) for both my face and body.  It seems to be helping.  I also use a moisturizer made for combo skin (I think it's free and clear).  I asked my MW, and she said that any product that you can buy on the shelf is safe.

I think my skin got better after the 1st tri....but I forget!

No clue about the breakouts, but it blows my mind when ppl don't moisturize, I guess b/c I've become so accustomed to it, also I HAVE to use a moisturizer with SPF in it or my entire face would be one big freckle. Anyway, I'd definitely go for one with SPF 15 in it! You only get once face, might as well take care of it. I hope it helps with the breakouts, they don't sound like fun at all.

  • It might not be your pregnancy! My skin has been getting pretty bad the last couple days - it's the heat and humidity. It happens to me every year the first time it heats up.
  • As I was typing my original answer, I was thinking that my face was getting better....but I've got a new pimple forming on my chin =(  I'm sure the hot, humid weather's not helping one bit!
