sunscreen!

DH and I got back from Clearwater yesterday - we loved spending time on the beach (Honeymoon Island was great!), but are totally regretting our sunscreen choice (SPF 45, target brand, reapplied many times) because we are both hurting from the sunburn! What kind of sunscreen works best for your family?

Thanks in advance Smile

Re: sunscreen!

  • We use Coppertone Sport Continuous Spray.  Brian has been working a lot outside and doesn't like to wear a shirt because it is so hot out...and he hasn't gotten burned at all with this stuff.  You just spray it on and you don't have to rub it in.  But spray it outside!  I sprayed it on his back yesterday in the bathroom and after mopping twice that crap is still on the floor.

I'm glad you had a great time in Clearwater!

  • Thanks!! I'm planning on sucking it up and going outside tomorrow to get some sunscreen so we're better off next time :-)

  • We normally use the Coppertone Sport Spray also...but recently I just grabbed some Banana Boat 30 spray because it was on sale and it was HORRIBLE. Instead we might just stick to the NO-AD 30 or 45 because it all honesty it seems to work the best out of everything and because its a cream/lotion you rarely miss a spot like you do with the sprays. (And is is VERY inexpensive)

  • Ocean Potion Extreme Sport 30.  I will never use anything else.  They donated 50 bottles to me (for my Team--see siggy), and I have been praising them since.  I never get burned, it never drips in my eyes during long runs and I never break out on my face from it (and I have extremely sensitive skin).

  • I use Bullfrog - spf 30 is enough.  It is amazing.  The gel really stays on - you have to work a little in the shower to get it off.
  • Copertone Sport Spray works well for us, although  beware--it will stain your white baithinsuits grey Sad I learned that the hard way last year on our honeymoon.

Bullfrog also works well for us, and I always use Origin's sunscreen spf20 for my face. I refuse to put anything else on my face (due to chronic skin irritations).

  • Thanks, guys!!! I ended up getting this Coppertone Sport Spray that is SPF70 (I'm taking no chances now!). It might be going back, though, because my bathing suit top is white and I'm worried it might get stained Sad

  • We use Walgreens SPF50...and WOW they have SPF70!? I didn't know that!
  • I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard (a long time ago) that anything over 45 is the same.  We only use 30 and it has always worked for us.  I'm allergic to the sun, so I would know if it weren't working.  Big Smile

  • I know!!! SPF70 = holy canolies! My sunburn still hurts, but I think it feels better than it felt on Monday. My parents are taking DH and me out on Saturday for our anniversary and they've told me it's something outsideHuh?ouch! I guess I'll be giving that spf70 a shot on Saturday...

Thank you!!! It was kinda a "sad" anniversary - DH and I were both burned so much we couldn't even hug each other! We had Pizza Hut for dinner at home (we were planning on going to Kobe) because it hurt too much for DH to have a shirt onSad We're planning on going to Kobe next week when we're feeling a little better.

I did re-create the top tier of our wedding cake and it turned out pretty good!!
