Need help: People checking out our apartment tomorrow...

So some possible new tenants are coming to see our apartment since we will be moving out next month.

What do I need to clean up? This is the first time doing this. Any tips? Places they may look? Thanks!

Re: Need help: People checking out our apartment tomorrow...

  • Obviously, put away anything you don't want them to see...

They will at least want to check out the bathroom and kitchen.  I would just run the vacuum that day and just make sure things are neat.

Will you be there when they go through or not?  If not, you may want to secure your valuables...I hate to be like that, but these days you just can't trust anyone.

  • Yeah that's what I was thinking. I'm doing laundry right now because I had that out from over the weekend. I just have boxes all up in the dining room- it's crazy! I just don't want to have to do a deep clean if I don't have to. I just cleaned the kitchen sink before we left this weekend to go away. I'll vacuum again tonight and clean up some things.

Anymore tips are greatly appreciated! Maybe something I'm missing.

  • They may want to look in your closets to get a feel for the size of them. Annoying, I know...but closet space can be a dealbreaker!
  • I think a "deep clean" is not necessary.  I would just straighten up and vacuum.  Make that things are put away.  If I was going to look at a place I might open a closet but not dresser drawers.  We we came and looked at our townhouse...the previous tenents were still living here.  Our landlord walked us through and we or he opened closets to see the size but never even thought of looking at the personal belongings.  I would however take any jeweler with you to work just for peace of mind.
