Girls, it gets hotter than this??

Okay, so yes I was here last summer, but it rained ALOT, so it never seemed unbearable. But man, it was hot out yesterday and hot today. And from what I hear, it gets even hotter. Crazy!

75-80 is nice, 90 once in a while is bearable, but 95 or 96 for like 10 days in a row, yuck! I think it's too hot to even go sit at the pool!

What did people do in San Antonio before air conditioners??

Re: Girls, it gets hotter than this??

  • I know this sounds crazy, but you get used to it. It doesn't make it bearable...but its not quite the shock that it is right now. The first few hot days are always the worst. And, FWIW, I don't think that its usually this hot this early in the summer. Late July and August are the worst.

I've lived in SA since I was 6, and I still whine like a baby when its crazy hot outside. You just learn to wear cool clothing and limit your time outside to the morning or evening.?

My best pieces of advice--buy a sunshade for your car - I swear they help!! I also try to park facing east if I'm out late in the day...or at work, when I'm parked in the sun all day.?

  • Yeah, it terms of the car parking, I really appreciate that we have covered parking at work. It's wonderful.
  • Yeah, it's getting hot really early this year. I REALLY appreciated this as my AC was out all week and it had to get up into the 90s. Gee....thanks. You do get used to it though. What's been killer this weekend has been the humidity.

  • Yesterday was a record high, which means it's not normal.

It gets like this occasionally, but not all the time. I used to live in a house with no a/c, but it had lots of doors/windows and shade (was built c.1900) and was tolerable. You manage.

  • So, I'm from the north, and I've had people laugh and say "wait until you experience the Tx summers!" Honestly, I did not think that it was THAT bad! The air was hot, but it was super dry (especially the 100 degree heat Sat night). My DS and I went to the pool on Saturday and we were fine. After about an hour and a half-two hours we were ready to go home. I am still waiting to experience the unbearable heat that everyone keeps warning me about. I think Ohio gets hot like this in the summer-only for a few days though, but it's MUCH more humid than this. I'll tell you this, I will take this heat over the cold, ice, and snow ANY DAY! I'm not saying that it wasn't hot...but the way people talk sometimes...geez! I was expecting something SO much worse! Big Smile
  • Thank God for air conditioning. Geeze I wish my job had covered parking. Tongue Tied Kind of sucks though driving around with no air conditioner in the car.
