I was just wondering if anyone out there had an Ear Nose and Throat doc that they trusted and really liked. There is a good chance that I'm going to need my Thyroid out in the next couple of months. I have an endocronlogist that is watching my thyroid, and all other alterniative to destroy my thyroid are out due to the fact that I'm pregnant. My OB cleared me for surgery in my third trimester, and I will be there next week. I would just like some names of surgeons you trust, or don't so I have a starting point. TIA
Re: ENT Surgeon Recs
Ready for summer!
Suburban Ear nose and throat in arlington heights. Dr. Eisenstein. He did my surgery.
First of all, I am sorry to hear that you potentially have to have your thyroid removed.
I am currently seeing one for having a tumor removed. It's Dr. Panje at Rush University. He has been great. He is one of the top doctors per US Today (the one that ranks). Everyone in the hospital speaks well of him.
I came across him since I had the tumor and my doctor from Ohio (Head of ENT at the Cancer Hospital) recommended Dr. Panje. His profile is listed below.

He has been really upfront with me about how the surgery went.
Wow, I don't have a recommnendation for you, but sorry to hear that. I had the oral radiation treatment done about 2yrs ago. I do feel a lot better, but my sister had her's removed and it has caused her so many complications. If you can, try to get a second opinion. Is it possible to do an oral treatment after your baby is born?
Thank you all for the recs. I don't know about the oral radation, I have been told you can't be around the very old or very young for something like a month after the oral radation. My thyriod has been compressing my trachea and since I'm pregnant that has made my thyriod grow even more. If it ends up needing to come out, it will happen quickly.
No, it's not a month. It's actually a week. I had to get a scan to see how large it was and then about a week later, I took the pill and that was it. I had to stay away from small children and use plastic cups, utensils and paper plates. The radiation will flush out of your urinary tract. So every time you go to the washroom, you would have to flush the toilet 3 times. Also, you can never breastfeed again. That may be something to consider since you are having a baby. It was hard being away from my son, but the radiation was at its strongest the first 3 days.
I will tell you, mine was very large. Everytime I would talk it would move, it was awful. I felt like an alien and I fell like everyone was staring at me. I was very selfconcious.
I hope this helps you.
Unfortunately for you my FIL's practice is in Arizona. He is a head and neck surgeon. If you'd like I can ask him to recommend someone in Chicago.

My mom went to him years ago (1992) when he was at Loyola and I've known others that went to him in the past. He's extremely well respected in Chicago and has been around for years.
