preproposal jetters
I'm planning to propose to my girlfriend in August on the 28th, we agree on everything except for the amount of kids she is a 2nd year medical student and I am a law student she would like to have two kids and I have always wanted 1. I feel that our professional agenda will become 2 demanding and I want to make sure that I give our child my undivided attention in all aspects.

Welcome to the board!
I think it's hard for anyone to know how many the will really want to have. Some people have one and can't wait for the next. Some people have one and feel done. Some people feel they can't afford more, or they don't have the patience/time/sanity for more. You can't really know until you get there.

I totally agree with PP. We'd decided before hand that we'd have 2. Then we got a 2 for 1 deal (twins.) Now we wonder if we'd of only had one at a time would we have gone for 2? We really don't know. It is just one of those things that you don't know what you don't know. At least you are on the same page to actually have children - that is usually a bigger stumbling block.
