Economic Stimulus Check poll

What do you plan on doing with your economic stimulus check? Saving it? Buying a big ticket item? Paying off debts? Going on vacation? Something else???

We haven't received ours yet. It says we should have it by the 16th. I hope they are right. We plan on taking a good chunk of it with us to Mexico (in less than 2 weeks) to stimulate their economy. The rest will pay off the car that FIL gave to DH last month, boring, but a good thing.

Normally, we'd save it because we are huge savers with any extra $, but we have some plans for it. We are doing landscaping on our house and will spend a chunk on flowers, shrubs, and materials to build a retaining wall... and then what is left will go towards a new TV since apparently ours will be useless without a box come next February!

We bought a Dyson Animal. We really needed a new vacuum, but now we'll be putting more money into our house. The vacuum sucks SO much that it's ripping the seams out of our crappy old carpet! I'd been working on getting new carpet for awhile anyways.

We're not doing anything special with it....or at least we have nothing planned. ?We'll just spend it on whatever. ?We did just purchase a new washer & dryer so I guess you can consider that as our purchase although we bought those before we got the deposit.

New kitchen cabinets! We actually have a long list of bigger ticket items that we are doing to the house this summer. The stimulus check is just added to the amount we have saved up for all of that!

We did nothing fun with ours.  We paid off DH car with it.  But with paying that off we are able to pay cash for a trip to Mexico in October!

Still waiting for ours to arrive - wonder where it is!

We're going to use it to pay the taxes and title on our shiny new car I bought a week ago.

We got ours on Friday. The only thing that sucks is that we have to pay taxes on it next year! We are going to use it to help pay for the dog's training - that will help quite a bit. we also just purchased our weding photo album, so some of the money will probably go towards that.

We used part of ours as our deposit on our new rental house and the rest is going towards savings/stuff for the house and DH's graduation present!

We paid off some bills. It didn't seem that exciting, because it went out of our account almost as soon as it went in. I'm sure I'll be excited next month though when there's (a little) more money left over after we get paid.

We will be paying off some of our bills with half of whatever we get and save the other half. It will be nice having a few more bills paid completely off!

Savings account.? I'm taking 12 weeks maternity leave and only get half paid so we need to have some extra in the bank for when I'm not getting a paycheck.

We are headed to Poland in May of 2009, so it will cover one ticket over there.....

I actually got something in the mail from the IRS the other day that says you DO NOT have to report it on your taxable income next year, so that's even better!

Maybe I should open that letter that I got from the IRS the other day. It's still sitting on my table.....I like good news from the government!

I just saw that my 'check' is in my bank and ready to be released on the 16th. yay!
