OMG!!! Why are there so many kinds of them?! Why can't there just be one or two?! I can't believe I am going to ask for recs, but I relaly need help with choosing. I know- it is pathetic.
Re: Baby Bottles
We got a few different kinds from friends and at my shower. The best ones we found for Sarah were the Dr. Brown's. She did not have colic or any gas issues but we noticed that when we used these, she hardly ever had to be burped. A con is that they're a PITA to clean. We did eventually get the dishwasher rack thingy for them and that was a HUGE help. I felt like I was washing bottles ALL DAY EVERYDAY!
As a side note...we also used a formula pitcher to mix a day's worth of formula in at a time (we used the powdered regular Good Start). It was so nice to just pour it out into a bottle when she needed it and because we weren't mixing it each time (adding powder to the water then shaking it up) she wasn't drinking all those bubbles (probably another reason she wasn't gassy). Just thought I'd suggest it! :-)
We tried Medela nipples, Playtex, and one other kind (can't remember) and the only one Mary would take was Gerber Nuk bottles. We've never had any problems with colic or anything like that.
isabel and joaquin both like the playtex ventaire and avent.
neither one of them liked the medela bottles. and dh hated the dr brown ones.
He's too old to be drinking out of bottles.
LMAO
Why didn't he like the Br. Brown ones... aside from the obvious, which Brandy already pointed out.
I don't really know probably because of the washing. Since he is the one giving the bottles I let him decide. I just realize I've never seen J take a bottle. And I think I only fed Isabel a bottle maybe 5 times.
Same here. Dont know if youre planning to BF, but we have had no probs at all switching b/w breast and bottle. Love them!
We used Advent and they seemed to work the best with P's colic. We never did try Brown's though.
I couldn't agree more with Lori's recommendation about Dr Brown's mixer. We couldn't live without it.
We use Playtex Drop-Ins and have no problems at all. I have a Medela pump and hate their nipples, so I transfer the milk to Playtex. I wish I could use my Medela bottles and cut down on the stuff I have to wash, but their slow flow nipples flow so fast R choked every time.
I have heard great things about Dr. Brown's bottles reducing gas & colic, so I might try them.
I REFUSE to get a Dr. Browns because they have so many parts.
We have two Avents (the ones I would like to use) and a Born Free, and a Playtex Drop In, and some Prince Lion Hearts. I got them all free, one from Target, BRU, Motherhood Maternity and such.
I am keeping them to use when we do give a bottle.
There are some that are better (supposed to be) for breastfeeding and some better for colic.
Some babies are picky and some aren't...
I am liking Avent because they are supposed to be better for both.
