Hey Ladies, just trying to spark some conversation... What did you think of the pictures of Jenna Bush's wedding?
I thought she looked absolutely beautiful. The gown was very elegant/romantic/flattering for her, and I loved how, even though you know they spent a fortune on the wedding, it doesn't come off too showy/extravagant in the pictures they released at least.
Things I'm not sure about...
The floral wreath in her sister Barbara's hair... it reminds me more of something a flower girl would wear in her hair, not the Maid of Honor. Barbara looks like she's trying too hard to keep her shoulders back/maintain good posture in both pictures of her.
The top layer of the cake looks SOOO lop-sided and I'm pretty sure that was not part of the cake design since all the other layers look even.
I'm not sure how I feel about the multi-colored flags on the the tent... it kind of reminds me of a used car lot, but maybe a lot of the design was lost in the pictures and I'm just not grasping the overall flag vision though.
Anyway I'm not meaning to sound harsh or pick her apart, I think her day was absolutely beautiful... just looking for something to talk about... and I mean if you can't critique the first daughter's wedding, whose wedding can you critique???
Re: Critique Jenna Bush's Wedding Here
Oh come on girls, REALLY??? NO one else has an opinion???
I think it's bad juju to critique weddings, but hey, peer pressure made me do it.
I didn't think she looked that great. She looked sweaty and like all she did was run a brush through her hair and put some random flowers in it. It made her look 3. I didn't like the dress. Thought it made her look older than she is. (So from the neck up she's 3 and the neck down, 43.)
I guess I liked the other stuff. I really liked Barbara the younger's dress. I think she looked better than the bride.
It is comforting to know that it doesn't matter how much money you have, sometimes you end up with bad hair and a crooked wedding cake. I also think it was admirable that they kept the wedding realistic - it could have been any Nestie's wedding.
I agree with you on the flags in the tent-there's a number of other ways to 1/2 cover the open air side of the tent's roof-even sheer/white flags would have looked a bit better.
You almost couldn't tell where her sisters wreath stopped and the floral arrangement behind them started.
Aside from those two things-and the slightly tilted top layer of the cake-the photos that were released are really lovely.
I too loved that it was all very simple (relatively speaking) and down to earth, compared to what the couple could have had at their fingertips. Keeping it from being a "media circus" as the article said was nice, and showed that the families cared more about the couple's wishes and happiness in creating their ideal moment.
Personally, I loved her dress, was not crazy about the floral wreaths in the bridesmaids' hair, but like the flowers in her hair. Laura's dress was very lovely for Mother of the Bride, and the couple looks truly happy in all of their photos.
