Back from the dead! :D

Hi ladies! :D I knew some of you from theknot boards back before my wedding on Jan 26th. After my wedding and honeymoon (in Italy!) I kind of fell off the face of the planet. (I also had MAJOR post-wedding blues!) So I'm back, but here on the nest, and already TTC. : )

So as a quick intro (or refresher) I'm a professional violinist, I live in Austin but I am from SA and had my wedding there.

I have a question for you SA local ladies- my sister-in-law is approaching her due date, and I want to host a baby shower for her at an SA restaurant. Do you guys have any recommendations for something appropriate for that?

Thanks so much and it's good to be back! : )

  • Hey there Stranger! I hope you had a great time in Italy!

My friend hosted one recently at Scenic Loop Cafe and said it was great! They did a variety of apps and she said the price was not bad.

I had my wedding shower at Candlelight Cafe on St. Mary's and loved it! We did a Sunday brunch.

Alos check out Madhatter's, Guenther House and La Fonda on Main

  • Hi Paith!! Thanks so much for the excellent recs. I am VERY partial to Candlelight since it was my old hangout. ; ) And the Sunday brunch sounds great! I will call them today and check out the others as well.
  • I agree w/ all of Faith's recs...??

  • i have also hosted a shower/luncheon at scenic loop cafe.

they have a nice sized room right off the right side past the entrance and they will let you in however early to decorate, set up the tables in whichever arrangement you need, offer you napkins of any color, and provide an assortment of menus or meal options.

i really liked scenic loop.  plus, the food is fab as always.

  • Thanks for the advice ladies! I went ahead (with *some* trouble) booking a room at Madhatter's Tea, which I'm excited about except for one thing: they seemed a bit disorganized on the phone. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
  • I had my bridesmaid luncheon at Madhatters 3 years ago :) It was perfect and everyone loved it!

Awesome! That's very comforting. : ) I like that they provide flowers!

  • Yea! You're back!  Do you have pictures to show off?  I know some of the ladies here and the ones on the Knot were dying to see your pics. Do share.  Good luck w/ the TTC.  Baby dust your way!
  • I'm super late but hey!  We were just talking about you the other day.
