Visiting Indy

Hi all, we're visiting Indy on Friday, going to the King Tut exhibit at the Children's Museum.  We're looking for a good place for lunch in that area.  We'll be coming out I-70 so something east of town would be fine too, just nothing too far beyond town in the other directions.  We're pretty adventerous when it comes to food.

Thanks!

Re: Visiting Indy

  • Sounds like a really fun trip!! One of our favorite places downtown is  Bazbeaux (pronounced Baz-bo) Their address is: 334 Massachusetts Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46204 and the Phone is: 317-636-7662. The website link is: http://www.bazbeaux.com/

They have some really fun/different pizzas. It is about a 10 minute drive from the Children's Museum, and a small drawback is that the only paking is paralell/angle parking on the street. It is also in the Mass Ave/Theatre district which has some slightly confusing one way streets.

If this doesn't sound like a great fit, you can check out. www.indy.org, where you can search for restaurants by distance from the Children's museum. One last thing--there are not too many restaurants closer to the Children's Museum. Good luck--let me know if you have any questions--in case you couldn't tell we LOVE downtown Indy and all there is to do!

  • McNiven's is right across the Street from Bazbeaux and it is one of my favorites.  If you like beer they have lots of choices.  I love their grilled cheese!

The Rathskeller is also on that street.  It is a really old German Restaurant.  They have a great menu.  We had our rehearsal dinner there.  They have an outside beirgarten with live music.  www.rathskeller.com

  • I second all of those recommendations!

I'm also a fan of Scholars Inn Bakehouse (also on Mass Ave. near the other mentions).

  • Too funny--I also thought of McNivins and and Scholars Inn are great choices! If you don't make it to Scholars Inn this trip, they have a great brunch too. I hope your trip is lots of fun wherever you have lunch!

  • Bazb, Yats!, Scholar's, MAcNiv, Rathskeller are on Mass Ave and Shapiro's, Barcelona Tapas are more downtown. So many options!
Move along, nothing to see here.....
