I-88 ticketing...does this begin today?

Hi,

Does anyone know if the I-88 ticketing begins today with the photoradars?  I think i saw where one was placed as i was going along and I think i was going 5 over.  I might be having a big old ticket come my way soon.  Ive heard mixed things about this new process so Im not really sure about whats true and whats not.  Ive heard if you go even 1 mile over in a workzone, then you get a ticket.  But how are you supposed to slow that far down if everyone is zooming past you and riding your tail?  Its all a bunch of bull.  Anyone sharing in my frusterations?

I keep getting forwards about photo enforcement of speed on highways but I have not seen one single shred of credible evidence that this is occuring to the extent the emails claim.  The only thing mentioned is the vans, which have been out on highways for a few years already.

I would have to think that if what these emails are correct that more than one news outlet would have picked up on it and that IDOT would have announced the implementation on the website.

Is there a reliable source that has confirmed these emails that have been going around?

  • As far as the emails that have been going around, they did a story on the news about this a few nights ago and the part about them ticketing anyone going over buy just 1 mile per hour is crap but they did say that they are sending out the vans with the cameras in them. However, they have had those vans for a few years. My friend got a ticket from one and I drove past a bunch last summer. A cop told me to just keep it to no more than 10 miles over the posted speed limit and you should be ok.
