Re: omg i need some help what to do
Depends how soon you need it...if you need it in less than 2 weeks you can go to the Passport Office in Downtown Miami (near the Flagler Court house) its pretty pricey to get it that way but they will have it ready I believe in 2 to 3 days. Definitely call them to make sure!!!
Also, I believe if you travel w/your marriage certificate and your passport it might be OK to some countries. You should def call the passport office and ask them.
If you decide to go the traditional route and send it to the Passport agency in Philadelphia (where my bf works) you need to fill out the paperwork and send your original passport and original marriage certificate. They usually get it back to you within 6 weeks (I think it costs around $60-80) and if they aren't busy you can get it back in 3-4 weeks like me. Or you can pay extra to expedite it.
But if you need it like right now, I second Mrs_Rod's suggestion on going to a passport office nearby. Just be sure to have filled out all the paperwork before and have your old passport and an ORIGINAL marriage certificate.
Good luck!
If travelling prior to Aug, you can book your airline/cruise ticket w/ your maiden name.
After Aug, you'll be required to travel w/ 2 forms of ID... so assuming your license has your married name, you'll need to update your passport ASAP.
I'm a lazy bum, and after 4 yrs, still haven't done so. But I guess I need to get my act in gear b/c I'll be needing it for Sept!

hmmm my SIL is a passport specialist for the dept. of state and when i asked her this she told me if you do not have time to update your passport have your original marriage license with you.
I asked this when i got married things may have changed, so i wll need to confirm this with her...
