Anyone ever been to Rocky Point or near there?
H and I are looking into a late honeymoon to Mexico. Have any of you been? Can you recommend any place to stay? I've never been and the last time H went, he was in college, stayed with five other guys, and doesn't remember a whole lot if you catch my drift Not really a classy time for him!
I'd like to stay somewhere near the beach and somewhere that is considered safe and reputable. Any ideas?

Re: Anyone ever been to Rocky Point or near there?
I personally wouldn't recommend Rocky Point as a honeymoon destination. Rocky Point is more of a spring break place or if you are really into ATVing or just sitting around getting drunk then Rocky Point is a great place to go. DH's family took us there after Christmas last year and we didn't have that much fun. The beach is really different (think more white sand dunes then white sandy beaches) and there aren't a lot of activities other than ATVing and some fishing excursions. There is a downtown shopping area, but it reminded us more of Nogales. Now when we were there we saw that a bunch of new high rise hotels were being built, so maybe it has changed since we were there a couple of years ago, but in my opinion Rocky Point is better as a weekend getaway from Tucson rather than a honeymoon option. Good luck and enjoy your time on the beach!
I went to Rocky Point just a month ago and I had a great time. I prefer peace and quiet so I stayed by the beach for most of the mini-vacation (only there for three days). I stayed at a friends condo in Las Conchas, which is the Beverly Hills of RP, so I'm not familiar with the hotels there. They have some great restaurants (The Point and The Friendly Dolphin) and a fun shopping street. It's true though, the shopping street is just like Nogales, but it's up to you. I don't mind Nogales.
Guaymas is a beautiful beach town right next to San Carlos. As mentioned above, there are many opportunities to snorkel/scuba dive. Great seafood (lobster!) down there. One hotel in particular is Hotel Playa de Cortes. An old Spanish style hotel built right on the beach. It's quiet during the week, so I'm sure you'd get great service since you wouldn't be in too much competition.
Just some suggestions.
