Hi all!! I'm from Omaha, and my hubby is from the Liberty/Kearney area. We went to school in Maryville, and I made him move up to NE with me for PT school...
Anyway long story short, we really want to move back down to MO and I was wondering where is your favorite area to live in the area... Anywhere is up for grabs, but we'll most likely be in the KC area...
The kicker? I'm bilingual (Spanish major) and would love to get a job where I can speak spanish to some of my patients and I'm sad to be leaving Omaha because we have such a big hispanic population... is there any places that would be need a bilingual physical therapist that you all know of near KC or the Ozarks??
TIA

Re: Moving to KC
Welcome to the board! I love Omaha!
I don't think you'll have any trouble finding a spanish speaking position somewhere - KC has a nice sized spanish speaking population. I would guess that your best place to look for a job in your field would be somewhere in downtown KCMO.
I don't know much about the Ozarks but I would suggest before you pick a spot to live you find a job somewhere. KC isn't THAT big but commuting from once side of the city to another is never much fun. That said, Independence on the MO side is a very nice spot to start looking.
I tend to prefer the KS side of state line though (that's where I grew up). It has some of the best school districts in the country - if that is a concern - but the commute to downtown on I35 is killer!
hth and gl!!
I'm originally from the ozarks... not a big Spanish-speaking population there that I know of, but most places would still love to have a bilingual person, just in case. I'd still look into the KC area first though, unless you like the small-town (less amenities) feel.
A lot of the KCK area is Spanish speaking. There's a lot of places you could work if they have openings, like free clinics etc. The area my sister lives in is mostly Spanish speaking and low income.
Good luck. ?

On my MO side I'd look at Lee's Summit and on the KS side look at Overland Park, Leawood, Olathe.....just kinda depends where you'd be working and what you are looking for. Overland Park/Leawood have great school and lots to do in that area. There is a large hispanic pop in KCK as someone else mentioned, but not sure if you would want to live in KCK.
