Anniversary ideas

Hi everyone!

My parents are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, and we wanted to throw a suprise dinner party for them.

We are looking for restaurant recommendations for 30 or so people and any other helpful hints, such as where we can find cute invitations (cheap and fast).

Any help would be appreciated!!  Thank you!

Re: Anniversary ideas

  • Where are you looking to have the party? That greatly affects recommendations, and what's your budget? I assume you'll be paying for each of the guests?

For invitations...what are you looking for? I think buying online might be the way to go. Probably cheaper than local places, at least when we were looking for our destination wedding at-home-reception invites.

  • We threw my parents' 25th party a few years ago. DIYing the invitations ended up being the cheapest way to go. We put one of their wedding pictures on it where they were kissing and wrote "Millions of kisses later..." under it. Then the rest of it read just like their wedding invitation. Instead of her parents names "requesting your presence" we put mine and my brother and sister's names. People really liked them! Just an idea....

As for a place to have it... what area are you looking for (city, burbs...)?

  • We are looking to have it in the burbs.  My grandfather lives in Buffalo Grove and we were going to have him invite my parents to a "quiet dinner" with the two of them and end up suprising them.  I know my mom really likes Wildfire, but if any of you have any other recommendations that would be great.

We were thinking of spending around $2000 give or take.  We created our own wedding invitations, so that is a great idea to do theirs.  Thank you for the ideas!
