SD girl

Are you moving to Oregon?  I think we've talked before.  I'm from San Diego, moved to Oregon last September.  Where do you live?

Re: SD girl

  • Hey! Sorry, I was out for the weekend...

Yes, my Dh and I are planning to move to OR, but not until next summer, as DH is finishing school. We were debating Norcal (where we are from) but we've decided OR it is, so we are in the planning stages right now. Dh's parents are also looking to move up there, but they're retired and might move sooner than we will as its easier for them.
We live in Escondido, but I've lived all over SD for the past 10 years...

How was the adjustment from SD to OR?

  • the adjustment took a while for me.  I quit my job in radio in SD to move up here for my husbands job.  We decided I would just stay home and work on finding a house (check) and eventually being a sahm.  We moved from Clairemont to Cottage Grove.  It's a tiny town with 9000 people and a walmart.  It was a bit of a culture shock, but also a bit like Santee.  We just bought a house in Eugene and moved in 2 weeks ago.  I love it here.  The weather is great, not too rainy.  I haven't made any IRL friends yet, but we jsut moved again so it'll happen soon.

  • Dh and I really don't know anyone up in OR, but the more people I talk to about it, the more connections I keep finding, including a few job connections, which is nice!

We're excited about the weather and the outdoor opportunities...we were driving home from Mammoth this past weekend, through the 114 degree desert and it was like hell to us both! We're rainy, seasonal folks at heart. We've both outgrown (or got tired of?) San Diego (as strange as that sounds to many people!)

I hope to keep this board active so that when I move up there, I can at least know a few people, so hop on here more often!

Sorry to but in, butt I lived in Santee, CA for 8 years!  I went to Santana high school freshman and sophomore year; we moved to WA the summer before my junior year.  Small world!

  • That is a small world! Most people in San Diego don't even know where Santee is!!! (which I find funny, it's not that remote!)
