Daycare/nanny costs?

DH and I are trying to figure out whether I can be a SAHM for the next few years or not and I'm wondering what an average estimate for daycare/in-house nanny care is in Fairfield or Litchfield County?  I know it varies, but if anyone has a general idea of the costs, I'd appreciate it!

TIA

Re: Daycare/nanny costs?

  • When I nannied, I charged $10/hour and that was a few years ago.   This price also included light house work and cooking for the kids.  I would expect to pay around $15/hour on average for in-house care.
  • Daycares in Danbury range from $1200 - $1600 a month.
  • Ouch, It's pretty expensive!
  • I'm in Torrington.

Using a center we paid $183 for 2 full days and 2 half days (5 hours or less).

The home daycare we are changing to is $180 for the same amount of time.

We average a little over $6 an hour but it's definitely not done by the hour.  It's more like $60 a full day, $30 a half day.
