Quinoa cost question

I was wandering around Super Target last night and in the baking aisle spotted some Quinoa.  I have been meaning to buy some lately and just happened to see it, so I threw it in my cart. 

I didn't even look at the price and when I got to the checkout it ws 11.99!  I got Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Quinoa.  Its a typical Bob's sized package...did I get majorly ripped off or is it supposed to be this expensive?  I was under the impression it was a cheaper grain?

You got totally ripped off.

I can buy boxes of quinoa at my grocery store (about 4 cups) for about $3, or I can buy it in the bulk foods section of whole foods for even cheaper.

I saw Bob's Red Mill for $13 this past weekend.  I can get it at my local WF for closer to $5 or less.

BRM products tend to be expensive all around but you can definitely find a different brand of quinoa for way cheaper.

I can get it at the hippie store (in edgewater) for way less than that! and WF usually has it in their bulk section which is often cheaper.

Ripped off. I get a box of Ancient Harvest pre-rinsed quinoa for less than $5.

I figured as much...who is this Bob and why is his Red Mill so expensive?

Serves me right for not looking at the price.  Whole Foods it is next time.

Bobs red mill generally makes really good products, especially for specialty flours for gluten free folk

 but you really do have to watch the prices - some are really affordable and some....well not so much.

Oh i know   I have quite a few of good 'ol Bob's products.  Sometimes its the only brand I can find of something.

I was irate about this last week as well because I was going to buy it at Target.  I found some cheaper at Trader Joe's, and Costco's had a HUGE bag of it for around $10 - but it was a huge quantity that would last forever.

That price is about what I'd pay at any store beside WF for quinoa.  Go to WF and buy from the bulk food section. I think it's about 1.99 a pound.

wow. I thought $7 at my local grocery was bad. I can get it at Trader Joe's for about $3.

I cannot wait til we get a whole foods here--- coming next year according to rumors!

The quality varies greatly. I find bobs to be one of the better ones and not having to rinse it saves time and a mess. I pay about 10/ bag at fairway for that.
