Re: Aloha

  • I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
  • Hi again. It's noon in California. This weekend was beautiful, our pool temp was perfect so that's where I was most of the time.
  • We went to another dog park this weekend.
  • Way better than the other two. This one had a similar set up with an area for bigger dogs and one for smaller dogs.
  • I posted on the pet board last week, but the experience we had at the other park was that we have two dogs. One boy and one girl. They are actually brother & sister's from the same breeder.
  • What happened was that the smaller dog area has a weight limit of 20lbs. Perfect for our girl, but our little boy is on the husky side.
  • Not fat, but solid muscle at weighs about 25-30 lbs. So our options were to take both to the big dog area, which we tried first.
  • I'm a fan of most dogs, and most people who go to the dog park supervise their pet while they are there. This didn't happen when we went. A few aggressive LARGE dogs kept trying to catch our little girl. She wasn't enjoying herself so me moved over
  • Once we moved over to the small dog area it was all good. They were enjoying themselves, minding their own business and checking out the lay of the land. I said hello to the other people at the park and was snubbed big time. Now I admit that I do live in a snobbier area of CA,
  • but there was no excuse for the people to treat me that way. Yes, our boy did exceed the posted limit, but he wasn't interested in any of the dogs. Really our kids keep to themselves and love just smelling everything. Once they go a few more times I'm sure they will realize that there are
  • kids to play with. Like this weekend for example -
  • We tried a third park in our area. Same set up. Big dogs over here small dogs over there. So I went straight for the small dog area. Everyone at this park was awesome. No dirty looks
  • No snotty people at all. We even got to see our kids meet another Boston. He was so cute and was full of it. I thought our dogs had the most energy, but this little guy ran circles around them.
  • For the first time they played with other dogs and got to show off how fast they can run. It was a beautiful morning and they ran until they just couldn't go anymore. They thought about going in the little kiddie pool, but ended up only putting one paw in.
  • So then we went home and headed for the pool. Our pool has one of those extended
  • Beach entry things when it gradually becomes deeper. They have both been very curious about the pool so we took them in. Just to the first step and since the water wasn't cold they just stood there.
  • I love that they have a respect for the water and don't just jump in. Since it's not fenced off I watch them the whole time they are outside, but by the afternoon it was too hot for any of us to be outside and not in the pool.
  • So we went inside and all took a nap. It was really nice.
  • Anyhow, like I said it's about noon on Monday.
  • If anyone checks this post I am still interested in knowing where Quad Cities is located. I guess I could google it, but that's not as
  • Much fun as learning from a fellow nestie.
  • Happy Monday from sunny CA Smile
  • The Quad Cities lies along the border of Iowa and Illinois and encompasses the towns of Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa and Moline and Rock Island, Illinois. About 3 hours west of Chicago.

    Hope this helps!
