Cardiologist put me on

south beach diet.

He said if his family and him can do it, I can do it. He wants to see me loose atleast 10lbs and be able to run a 12 min mile by January.

I have some work to do. Yikes:!!!

Re: Cardiologist put me on

  • Yikes is right! Good luck!! On the plus side, you'll be bikini ready soon :)
  • Yikes! Good luck. We'll help be your motivation and support! Do you run now? If you're starting from scratch and haven't really run before (like I was a year ago), I recommend the Couch to 5K program. It really helped ease me into running and made it easier to keep at it than just running on my own.

I use to run when I was in high school so I'm not to new to it, but I'll look at that program. I thought if I could get back into it I would find some 5k races to do to keep my interest.  I think the hard part is just changing my whole lifestyle from eating carbs to not being able to eat hardly any at all.

Nikki youre right I'll be bikini ready in no time.

  • you can def do it!!! i use to run 3 miles a day...i loved it.  i had to stop b/c i have bad knees and my dr said either stop running or surgery.  i opted on not running.
  • Keep us posted on how the new diet goes.  What would probably help you is to make a menu for the week and share it with us girls.  This will help you stay motivated especially when you see what you are going to eat written down.  You will be getting your tastebuds ready for no carbs, because your brain will already be thinking about what you are going to eat.

  • Katie, keep us updated on your progress and new recipes you find. I personally enjoyed their ricotta dessert recipe and the fact that I could eat lots of cheese. Big Smile

And...you'll be so fit by the time we all have our babies that you'll be getting US in tip-top shape. I can see already "Boca Bootcamp with Katie". Hehe. Good luck!

  • Thanks for the motivation girls.

Shirley I'll do that. I'll be eating whatever I make the guys for dinner but instead of the noodles or rice I'll subsistute with veggies. They are pretty dependent on me to make dinner since neither one of them can cook. Boys!!

I think the food will be easier then the exercise. I'm just lazy. lol and its soo HOT but no complaining I need to do this.

I'll make a food and exercise diary in my blog.

haha.... I giggled out loud at the "Boca Bootcamp"

I need a bootcamp right about now though.

I'll def keep you all updated. Watch my blog too I'll try and keep up with that. And if I get out of line I want to be yelled at its the only I'll not mess this up. You  never know I might just fall into this easily and you won't hear a complaint out of me, but on the other hand you just might. lol

  • The South Beach Diet isn't bad actually.  I did it a few years ago and lost 8 lbs in 2-3 weeks.  I also recommend the Couch to 5k if you want to get back into running.  I did it and was running 12-15 min miles which was pretty good for me.  (I suck at running lol)  I got out of it when I moved, but I wouldn't mind taking it on again some time.
