Internet Service Providers

Who do you use for your home internet?  Do you have cable or broadband?  How much do you pay a month and is it a special or bundle deal?

I have Charter cable internet and while I love the ease and speed of it, I think t's kind of pricey.  I am looking to find a new ISP and am looking for any recommendations.  I'm halfway considering getting one of those modem cards from my cell phone company if I am going to keep paying what I pay now.

Re: Internet Service Providers

  • We have Verizon Fios and love it.  It is bundled with our TV, and I think it's like $115 a month for both.  DH pays that bill, so I'm not 100% sure on the price.
  • We have Time Warner and pay $160 (including taxes and fees) for internet, phone and cable.
  • We switched last summer to ATT Uverse when they were agressively campagning through our neighborhood.  The phone and internet run great but BIG mistake as far as the TV. I'd love to try to keep the phone and internet and just get rid of the service for TV and go with Direct TV or whatever.  The customer service couldn't be worse if it was run by monkeys.  Sometimes we have to turn the box on 10 times to get connectivity, then it occcasionally loses sound, and other times loses picture.  Apparently it's an HDMI thing or something.  Anyway, we pay 160 for all three and if you're thinking of bundling with a TV, I'd think twice, all our neighbors who signed up for it hate it.
  • Im with you on the cell phone company and a "usb stick" internet thing.  While it is the same price, theres the benefit of it being wireless and mobile...you can take it from your home pc and use it in your laptop and travel with it anywhere you have cell phone coverage.  I like that alot...and while I can get "wireless" at home-its a pain to really get without interuption, this just seems much easier and more perks to be on the go with it.
  • We have time warner and I have always been happy with the service.
  • We have Verizon FIOS. I think it is close to $50/month.

this.  Love Fios, have no idea what it costs since DH pays the bills.  We have our internet, phone, and cable all together on one bill.  And Fios has good VOD options: free workout videos like the Shred.

  • I have U-verse for tv and internet, about 115 a month. I think the internet part is only 30, we have no problems with service
