What are some of your favorite restaurants in Greenville?
I am new here, so hello to everyone!
I am curious to find out some of your favorite restaurants in Greenville, pricey or not. My husband and I are always open to trying a new place, especially Mexican! I am originally from Southern California and have had trouble finding real good Mexican food. My husband loves anything!!
Thanks!
Re: What are some of your favorite restaurants in Greenville?
I think MrsZ will agree with me on this one, but Cazbah is a VERY good tapas and more restaurant. It's on West McBee Avenue downtown. Arizona is a wonderful steakhouse. There's one on Woodruff Road and one @the Fairview Road exit off 385. There are a few "decent" Mexican restaurants around Greenville-one of my favorites is El Jalisco in the 5 Forks area on Woodruff Road.
DH & I have been here for 2 years and we're still exploring the area-and loving it!!!
Welcome to Greenville!! I hope you enjoy it!!
I do I do agree!
You should come with us to Stellas next Tuesday (see my post below about the GTG) DH and I ate there a couple weeks ago and I think it's the best dinner I've had in the upstate. (It's not mexican though, it's fantastic food with a southern flare.)

Oh man, Greenville has so many great restaurants. Its hard to name just one.
For Mexican, I actually like a place in Duncan called El Agave. Its a bit of a drive from Greenville, but it is by far my favorite. There is also a chain of mexican restaurants around here called Monterreys...for whatever reason the one by the mall is by far the best.
My absolute favorite restaurant is Sweet Basil. Its a Thai restaurant at the corner of Hwy 14 and Pelham. Despite being located in the same stripmall as my husband's computer business, we didn't start eating there until probably the past year. We'd walk by and see a specials sign for octopus, and we didn't feel that adventurous.
If you like authentic Japanese food (not the hibachi show style) there is a Japanese restaurant in the same strip mall called Sushi Masa. It is fantastic.
A lot of people mentioned restaurants in downtown greenville. My favorite has always been Blue Ridge Brewery. Its a microbrew type place. Their beers are good and their food is good.
If you like High Cotton you'd probably really like Stella's. It's owned by, and the head chef is, the man who was the executive head chef who opened High Cotton.
He was the head chef of High cotton in Charleston, then he was sent to open the High Cotton here, then he decided to branch off on his own.
I have never replied to a post, so I do not even know if this will work.
I am sorry too that I think when I said "I am new here..", it made it sound like I was new to Greenville. Not really so. I just meant new to the board. Sorry ladies! However, my family is very picky so we never ventured out, so thanks for all your replies!
My husband actually took me to High Cotton the night we got engaged, and I LOVED it. There are some of the places you all mentioned that I hear about through people from work, and I think i is time to get brave and branch out of my comfort zone!
I would love to go to Stella's Tuesday night, but unfortunately, we have family plans already. Boo..sorry!
Thanks everyone for being so welcoming and giving some great restaurant recs. Has anyone ever been to a place called "Rosalinda Fondas"? I think that is the name of it. I guess it has a Mexican influence, and I have heard some good things about it, but have never been!
I will definitely have to check it out sometime!

I have never been, but if you do go check it out, report back to us and let us know how it was!
My parents have actually tried Rosilinda Fondas and didn't really like it. They don't really care for many of the Mexican restaurants around here.
There is one that I do like. I don't know how authentic it is, but their food is definately different frome everything else (and unique). Its called Anitas and its in Simpsonville. I always get a dish called Raspberry Chicken there. It sounds odd, but its one of the best things I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant.
Ooh I do really like Anita's! Their fundita is sooo good!
I was going to suggest Anita's as well. I love it! Also, on Main St. in Simpsonville, there is a really authentic taco shop (I think it's called La Tapatia?). It looks like a hole in the wall, but the food is good.
We also love Saffron for Indian food. Mojitos downtown is more of a bar, but they have some great Cuban food.
Besides that, I think really just places that others have mentioned. Rick Erwin's is great, but it is pretty pricey.
