vacation home in SD close to the Zoo and ariport

We are taking our 1 year old daughter to vacation in san diego this summer and are looking for a vacation home with 2 bedrooms.  We want to be close to the zoo and sea world as possible. Any suggestions where we can find them?

Re: vacation home in SD close to the Zoo and ariport

  • vacation homes around here are mainly on the coastline.  depending on where the place is, it can be a short drive or long to the zoo, sea world & airport.

mission beach (sea world is here), pacific beach & la jolla would be the closest.  i know there are hotels in downtown, not sure about homes.  del mar/solona beach would be around 25 minutes.

i can't think of any of the names i've seen on the boardwalks.  google "vacation rentals in san diego" or even check out vacation rentals on craigslist.  vacation rental companies do post their places  there too.

hopefully that helps.  let us know if you have any other questions.

good luck & have fun when you're here!

  • Also, the way the condo market is in San Diego, it's possible you might find a downtown, Hillcrest, or Little Italy-area condo to rent.  Those areas would be close to the zoo and airport, and Sea World would be only a short trip away.  Hope this helps!
  • Thanks.  I wonder why it is the case that most vacation homes are by the beach?  For families with small kids (like us), the attraction is the zoo and the parks, not the beach...  As to rent a condo, we have to find one that is furnished and has linien, etc...
  • The popular beaches in the city of San Diego are only 10-15 minutes from Balboa Park (which is where the zoo and museums are), Sea World, etc.  Vacation rentals by the beach because San Diego is a beach town-- people like renting things that are close to the water, especially when other attractions are so close.  So even if you end up renting something by the beach, you're not far from any of the things it sounds like you want to see.

And yes, you'd have to get a furnished condo-- my point was that some condo owners may rent out their condos in the same way home owners do.  In those neighborhoods in the center of town, you'd be more likely to find condos for rent than homes.

    Hope this helps.  :)

  • We recently stayed at a great condo on vacation in the Little Italy area with an 11 month old.  It was a great location and we were really pleased with everything.  We searched forever to find a place that everything we needed.  Check out bellahaveninc dot com.
